my pennys worth,,, two things that i think would beef it up without changing other bushings, would be to put torque convert. and parking shaft on needle bearings,
if someone with play money, would make those shafts hard for a needle bearing, then it would be just a change out, instead of machining shafts,,,etc...... if i had the money, i would redesign that trans for neeedle or ball bearing. have everything as a change out..

j leno took the 727 out of harolds 55 carib, and put the ultra matic in. think it had to do with vibration.
soon we will know how alum bronze bushings and needle bearings work, in the ultra,, since i now have engine almost ready to fire,up,,, next will be to get ultra together and test

custom,
yes rear of engine bell housing, this plug is the oil galley for rocker shaft left side, the right side the plug is on back of block, can't see it with picture, but, with left side because of dist. its inside the block, ]] i just forgot about it..,,when something is down for 20 years, ,, the memory goes.............. it was taken out for cleaning.. those oil ways were dirty,, tanking does not really clean it, you need to run a brush thru them, i bought a set of 4 foot foot long brushes. when i get the pan on i will take another picture, showing the other plug..

i forgot about this plug, , primimg no oil,, well, i pulled the pan and oil pump.... you don't need to,, the dist. is blocking it, so all you have to do is pull the dist. and knock out expansion plug,
its a 3/8s pipe, plug hex inside, picture long extention .. so if you can't oil prime, this is one reason why...
