Does that mean that I would still have to order the correct Packard lower bushings from someone who sells packard parts anyway. Looks like I'll just have to order some from the U.S and get them sent out

55 control arm bearings

Hi all,

My 55 Caribbean is almost on the road, we had planned to get the car registered this coming friday. Unfortunately today my mechanic informed me that there is 4x upper inner lower control arm bushings and 4x Lower inner control arm bushings missing. I was wondering if anybody knows what or if these bushings may be interchangeable/ cross referenced with bearings off another vehicle?

Many thanks
Mathew Rattray

Also remember, till the move to Detroit these vehicles were built under the name of the Ohio Automobile Company

Thought i'd throw that one in

Thats right, the safe road ahead, thats what it was called. That sounds like quite an good clip to see, but where is it today...?

It also makes you wonder how many other movies like this are out there as I am sure like me, many people would enjoy & love to see these, but then we should be thankful for what we have and can enjoy watching that.

Is it possible that these movies could be held in the Packard archived maybe at the Packard museum?

That video sounds like a very interesting video. I have seen a video where the P.M.C.C produced a video which show and describes the ideas behind the torsion level ride and how it works. From what I remember it goes for 20 minutes I would love to post it as its on a DVD but I am not sure due to copyright if we are able to do this, if anyone knows if this is possible let me know snd I can upload the videos for everyones enjoyment

Regards,
Mathew

Re: Getting new tires on a 34

I have to agree with Packard 12 Fan. My 34 Packard had only done 2500 miles before the babbit in the rods gave way. I'm now getting the engine rebuilt. I was amazed to find out that the engine was from a 36 model and yet still had babbit bearings. So the major problem with the later styled bearings is that they are hard to find. Hence this is why I believe when the car was restored 8yrs ago got the babbit treatment.

Fellow Packard members

Thought I'd drop a line to say that the 1955 Caribbean which I purchased a few months ago has finally landed down under. I picked the car up today and well... I LOVE IT. The car needs a bit of work but thats the fun of it all.

Now I have a quick question, i am sure i will have many more. Basically when we examined the engine the car seemed to have only 3 readable numbers on the engine no: 167 is there meant to be more numbers than this used to identify the engine.

Basically today we drove the car from the docking area to my mechanics so tomorrow we will have a good chance to look over the vehicle. I will post some images soon.

It feels like christmas

Regards,
Mat

Hi Peter,

Well if you've been waiting years for the slippers I don't like my chances of finding any
