some other basic hot rod tips would be to to to an 11/32 or even a 5/16 valve with the light spring pressure and low rpm's these engines turn you shouldn't have to worry about breaking a valve and put in titanium retainers you can get some from comp cams for there bee hive springs that should fit with a little modifications. Usually a counter weighted crank can be cut down about 1/4 of an inch on the counter weights to help the engine turn up quicker. If you wanted to spent the money you could step up to a custom light weight piston with thinner rings to reduce friction and again help the engine rev quicker. Remember the more power you make naturally aspirated the more you will make supercharged.

Any thing cam be made if you have enough money. I'm following a similar path as you with my 52 327 and I don't have all the details worked out as yet. Supercharging can make BIG increases in power somewhere around 7 psi of boot should give you roughly 50% more power and 14 psi should double you naturally aspirated output but again you would need a very good bottom end to support that, very accurate balancing, main studs, custom forged pistons and rods would be a must and you would very likely have to mod the oiling system. Good luck with your project and if you have any questions on where to find parts or want to check out what i'm doing to hot rod mine feel free to message me

Wow i was not aware of the 36 month time frame! there products look great though but time frame wise it would probably be better to mod a factory head

I found your car on youtube several years ago and i very much enjoyed the article hot rod did on it. I am very impressed with your engine. I'm just beginning to work with a 1952 327 and i would like to know some of the performance mods you made on the engine other than the obvious head, intake, super charger, and exhaust. I'm interested in taking mine fairly far and i am even considering turbos but inline Packard blocks are hard to come by around here and i don't want to destroy anything during the build up. If you don't mind sharing i would love to hear about your build

The big thing to remember is the Packard was a very expensive car the the Ford V8's glory days not to mention the huge production of the Ford over the Packard it just made the V8 engine the choice of the common hot rod builder. However i am a firm believer that you can make any engine perform well it just takes some creativity and research.

I was doing some digging on Packard performance mods and i found a gentleman making repro Edmunds parts for Packard, his company was called Empire motors he said that the Edmunds head had very high compression close to 11.1 which is way to high for proper flame travel across the top of the piston. He sells as a set an Edmunds head with a revised combustion chamber the Edmunds dual carb intake and a split cast iron exhaust manifold for around $3500
