Thank you Howard. I did not know what I thought was the top of the piston was a valve. I thought things were messed up because it barely moved.
Where is the timing mark ? I cleaned the crank, not easy to get to or see, as I am sure you know, and can't see any marks. Since the car is not running at all now it makes life so much harder. Life would be easier with a shop manual, but since I do not have internet except on my phone, no access to a computer, or mmoney to spare on buying a book, I am in a pickle. Thank you for the information. Don't know what I would do without you all.

Ok. A couple of more dumb questions concerning the timing. 1. How far down do the pistons go when moving top to bottom? It seems like only an inch or so when I am trying to find tdc.
2. It seems like when I rotate the engine and check tdc on number one, its never in the same spot on the distributor. 3. Do I need to take into account the position of number one concerning the vaccum advance?
I am sorry for pestering you guys with all the questions but I do appreciate the help. I called a garage to see if they could work on it and they laughed at me and said, good luck.

How hard is it to get a rebuild kit and rebuild it myself? Looks simple enough, but every time I say that it ends up being more than I bargained for.

Wow. That's a lot more work than I was thinking of. I appreciate all the information. Very knowledgeable and professional. I was thinking I could by pass the booster somehow. I really don't have weeks to wait on rebuilding everything. My wife got the other car in our divorce. I got both kids and the Packard. Go figure. The kids and I love the car, but I need to fix it or sell it and get something dependable. Lol. Thank you for the information.

1954 Deluxe Clipper power brake to regular brake?

I was wondering, I have power brakes on my 54 clippers, the booster and master cylinder are shot, they are original factory ones, can I replace them with a regular non power master cylinder, and do away with the booster? How much trouble is it? What do I need to replace or add? This car has been nothing but a headache and is now my only vehicle. I can't spend a fortune on it right now to make it show quality, just road worthy. If I can switch it over, someone can have my booster and master cylinder if they need it or want to rebuild it for them selves. Thanks

Any idea where I can find a wiper arm for my car? The drivers side is there but passenger side is gone. Found a few on line, but no replues in two weeks. Just need one that will work and has the spring intact. You would think if people go to the trouble to advertise them, they would reply to someone wanting to buy it. Thanks
