I used fender welting on mine, The same strip that runs between the fender and the body. I left it one long piece. Thats how it was installed, However it might not be factory. My car had lots of bad body work done before I got it,

Hi Larry,
This was my first post on this site and I put it in the wrong place. I actually got quite a bit of information that helped me cosiderably. If you go to the pre war forum its all on there but you may have to dig back to November of last year.

I completely dissassembled the entire hood and painted with a 2 part epoxy and reassembled with no problems with the hinge or chrome strip.
As a hint, Make sure you have the hood operating properly in the centre hinge and then remove and paint.

I also have rework my hood in a similar fashion.I also have made some hooks to relieve the strain on the hinge by not allowing it to go all the way over. Thanks for the pictures, But with tongue in cheek to say your hood works great has to be an exaggeration of the truth.

The bad news. It has been exceptionally hot around here and the running board rubbers are coming loose in some areas. I will be redoing this coming winter but not with urethane glue,

I did both running boards, One a day because you must have enough clamps, vice grips and anything else you can use to hold pressure onthe rubber.I am quite pleased with how it turned but I would try a different glue if I had to do it again.

On my 37 the rear fender welting curves around the the back of the running board and a seperate piece goes across the front of the running board. There is nothing between the running board and the body.
I dont know if this correct because my car has been repaired[very poorly] before I got it.

I will be gluing standard rubber matting on flat steel running boards using urethane windshield glue. It allows you some grace time to move things around but fully cures in 24 hrs. This will happen next week and I will let you know how it turns out,

Thank's for all the info and advice but this a low cost project that has already gotten out of hand.
