advice on 1952 performance

Here is my problem. 1952 327, umatic.
my car seems to run good when I take it out on the road until after about 40 mins or so. When the car is warmed up then I can't seem to go any faster than around 40 or 45mph. it acts like it does not get enough gas. it won't accelerate. if I hit the aux fuel pump that does not help. also the fuel filter is clean. I have a new fuel pump. I have new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, I use ethanol free fuel. this problem has been with me for some time. when I first got the car 5 years ago it ran fine. then I found I needed a new f.pump and I did a tune up etc. a few months ago I replace the plugs(autolite). wires , cap, rotor , condenser etc etc. timing set at 6btdc. a fellow told me to redo the timing to 8dbtdc. The car does run better , but still not correct. I need to refocus and get some direction. I appreciate your help. tim

Here is a new post to this thread I started a while back.
I did get my switch installed . All is good except I don't have dash lights . This is not good when driving at night. and I want the car to work as it should. I stuck my head under the dash to look around etc. I had my test lamp. I thought I plugged a wire into the wrong spot. of coarse now I can't remember what I did or did not do...? LOL I would appreciate your advice. I get no action when I move the fade switch. so do I need to look at circuit breakers...... help thanks

thank you so much for the pictures and great advice.
I never noticed the spark plug end in the first pic. I always assumed that the plug ends always had a boot. thanks

thanks for the good advice.
and tolandis the wire keeper that you say is like bakelite on my car is rubber. it is hard and almost brittle because of the age I suspect. On the one pic u posted if you look close on the top left row of holes with the wire coming through you can see where the top of the circle is split. it is that way so when you remove the coil etc the rubber keeper is free and you will be able to separate carefully and remove the wire without removing the wire boot and connector. I hope this helps. tim

does any one know of a vendor that stocks ready made, good quality spark plug wire sets for 1952? I have a feeling they do not exist. I have a hard time with the boots and clips etc. I am always afraid I do not have good connections....... thanks tim
