Hi everyone
Finally got through to Packard Carburetors, Ltd. Below is the email reply I received. After setting up carburetor/parts details with David I will be personally picking up these parts when I travel south. Will keep you posted. easyed Edward, Yes we are still in business and we are prospering! We have relocated to Spokane, Washington area to be close to our vendors. What area in Canada are you traveling from as we are not close to Reno any longer (we are on I-90 interstate). I will make every effort to facilitate your personal delivery of your carburetor or parts. What do you need for parts and what type of fuel pump do you have on your carburetor Gravity or Electrical? Would you e-mail me a picture of your carburetor for reference when we are talking about it? You may also call me at 775-842-4282. Thank you for your interest, Best Regards, David. > Date: Fri, 25 Oct 2013 22:10:49 -0600 > From: > To: davidfrear@hotmail.com > Subject: Detroit Lubricator Carburetor or parts > > > Hi David > > Is Packard Carburetors, Ltd still in business? Has anybody dealt with Packard Carburetors Ltd. of Eagle, Co. I am thinking of purchasing the standard eight version for $2550. I know they are custom built but seem pricey. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
The address as PO box 6060 doesn't sit well with me. Thanks Ed

On the side mounted water pump there is five bolts which hold the water pump clamp plate. If you loosen these the impellor and pulley shaft sandwiched between this plate and the main housing bolted to the engine is allowed to rotate.(center of shaft is offset to its outside housing thus will loosen or tighten the fan belt when rotated) easyed

Just acquired a spare 1929 Packard standard 8 engine complete with clutch, transmission, pedals and all accessaries, even fan blade. The engine serial number is 257529A confirming it is a 1929. This engine would of been issued with a Johnson carburetor then replaced by a Detroit Lubricator 51. As I received it, it has a Packard AV carburetor. The only numbers I have found on this carburetor is P 5882 on the air valve seat casting. Nothing on any flange. Also, the air valve spring is only one piece and not the two springs as shown in the parts manual. Is this a true Packard part or reproduction? Any easy way to identify?

Hi All
I have a 1929 626 with original footrest brackets. Will check in parts book and see if they are the same as the 633. If so I would be willing to help with reproducing them. Ed ps From the Packard Service Parts List Foot rest assembly for model 333 is 139030 (mine) Foot rest assembly for model 344/345 and 374/375 is 147949 (yours) If you could find one of these other models you should have a match to buy/copy
