I apologize for being a little late posting my pictures from last weekend, I'm new to posting pictures on a photo sharing site. I hope my pictures are posted correctly and do come through.

I spent the whole day on Saturday at the Gilmore Car Museum, I was able to enjoy the exhibits and take a number of photos, most of the shots near the end of day were of cars (mostly Packards) that were returning from the Saturday tour.

As has been mentioned the Sunday show was under the threat of incoming stormy weather, so I did not get as much chance to stop and talk with owners as I had wished and did not get a photo of every car. Every owner that I did speak to was very easy to talk to and proud of their cars.

If the connection works I hope you enjoy the attempts by a very amateur photographer.

I made my first visit to the Gilmore Car Museum today, this is an amazing place for any classic car fan to visit.

On a perfect weather day that was straight out of a 'Pure Michigan' commercial it could have been difficult to stay indoors if were not for the quality of the exhibits and the attention to detail of how the cars were positioned in all the halls. I was not surprised this evening to see that I'd taken over 400 pictures during my visit.

I arrived about an hour after the doors opened and left just ten minutes before they closed, as the saying goes a day well spent. A major highlight was when after a country tour the participating Packards and others began to arrive on the site. It was great to see about fifty Packards parked on the field in front of the CCCA museum and speak with some of the owners including members of this forum.

I look forward to seeing many more Packards on Sunday and pray that the weather gods hold the forecast afternoon rain until after the show is over.

Regarding finding the overall length of the car, I haven't been able to find any overall dimensions anywhere on prewar Packards either. It looks like they just didn't publish dimensions

Don,

I found my 37 - 115C's dimentions on <http://www.classiccardatabase.com/>, however I'm not sure if they list the information for other years and models.

Packard on CSI this evening

It was interesting to see a 38 Packard convertible play a central part on the CSI episode (CBS) this evening.

This show is a little thin when it comes to acting performances and there story lines do tend to way off on some of their facts......it still was great to see a Packard front and center.

Comments on the P on the grille?

Hello Packards1:

They are shown at the Blue Water Bridge that connects Port Huron, Michigan to Sarnia, Canada at the southern part of Lake Huron.

I live about an hour (98 KM to be exact) northeast of the Sarnia (Canadian) end of the bridge. I'm leaving first thing Wednesday morning for an eight hour drive, then some R&R in Hershey.

I hope to take in the vendors on Thursday and Friday, view the RM auction preview tents on Thursday evening and with luck I will squeeze in a visit to the AACA museum. I'm sure will I likely cross paths with members of this list during my visit.

The Saturday show will be a highlight before heading home on Sunday, for turkey dinner on Monday, (Canadian Thanksgiving ).

I'm watching live coverage of the Detroit Woodward Dream Cruise on WXYZ channel 7.

A lot of prepackaged pieces, I just saw a Patrician convertible driving by in one of the live shots.

This is not CL, but on Kijiji the site that alot of Canadians post their classic cars for sale.

This 1954 Packard Patrician looks good and has been available for a while, with the price falling from an initial $12,000 plus, the seller wants it sold now.

I have no relationship with the seller but I feel it should go to a person who will appreciate it.

The car is located about an hour north of Toronto, on beautiful Georgian Bay.

BTW $8,700 CDN is $8,100 USD.

Richie,

It would help if that you could provide a link to car you are looking at in your post so we know the car you are asking about.

As a tip, highlight (copy) the heading from the ad in Ebay and drop it (paste) into your post.

Happy hunting

If memory serves me right You need to shove the bezel around the door handle ( push it towards the outside of door. ) Then You should be able to access the rear of handle where you will find a pin, shove it out with a small punch or something like a piece of brazing rod. Don't lose the pin.
Hope this works for You

P385,

You are correct with your instructions.

I recently removed all my inside and outside handles of my 115-C, so I could do some cleaning and polishing in the comfort of my basement work shop rather than my unheated Artic Vortex located garage. I did not want to worry about damaging the door panels with any metal cleaning products.

All the inside handles have a large tension spring behind the bezel, between the back of the door panel and the door frame to facilitate the pressure of pushing the bezel in.

I was really surprised how easy it was.

Good luck.

Bob
