Re: Source for Rubber Packard Floor Mats

I think I will go back to what I put over the carpet in my other cars while driving - Towels, to keep my carpet from getting soiled, wool carpet is too expensive to not take care of, plus the towels trap a lot of debris and easily remove at shows, cruise ins, etc.

I've posted in the past asking where to purchase Packard floor mats like those in the attached photo. I was told to contact So Cal Packards and so I did. I sent several emails and cannot get a return email from them. Does anyone know if they are available elsewhere ?? I've exhausted my search. Thank you

I would love to hear the thoughts from Packard owners about running radials instead of bias ply tires on our Packards.

1941 Packard Robe Cord

This is a follow up on the installation of the robe cord on my 41. Myself and 3 other car guys have studied the attaching of the cord to the seat shell and we cannot figure how Packard did this. The chain inside of the cord has to have a link attached to a bolt that is inserted from the front side of the seat shell through a steel plate that holds on each side attached by 2 bolts per side. I have attached photos to hopefully explain this better. If I could rotate the right side handle horizontally like I did on the left side I might be able to move the chain link around until the pin on the end of the bolt enters the chain opening. However, the chain is not long enough to do so. The only solution I can come up with is to silicone the chain link inside the handle and hope it holds long enough to tighten the bolt through the link while attaching it to the seat shell. My question is how did Packard ever do this during assembly ???? What a pain !!!!!!

I will try to post in depth photos later this week, your setup sounds different than mine. I cannot ever imagine how Packard hooked both ends so that the end of the cord doesn't show. I'm at a loss on this issue.

41 Packard Robe Cord Assembly

Okay, I have become a little disorganized for some reason. I am attempting to reassemble the robe cord on the back of the front seat in my 41. I have the two chrome assist handles for lack of a better term, the chain that runs inside of the cord itself. The two top bolts have a stem on the end of each bolt. Am I possibly missing something because I cannot successfully attach the chain to the bolts inside the handle. Is there possibly any other hardware for this. I had placed the bolts, handles and chain in zip lock bags. Any suggestions how to reattach this ?

1941 Clock Question

Just curious would a rear clock be an option for a 1941 160 if it is a non- limo car ? I noticed the cutout for a clock in the front seat shell of my 160 when reupholstering the seats and thought it would be neat if a windup clock was in that space. Not sure how difficult it would be to locate one .

Thank you Howard,I like what you did, The probe is threaded into the aluminum, does it seal okay or did you add sealant to the threads. Thank you for the photos. I want to mount the gauge so I can swing it out from under the dash and hide it when necessary.
