Where would you look to get hold of the faux wire spoke wheel covers ? they really do add to the car. The Chrome wheel hubs look good also. The only thing with hub caps is that they fall off much too often.

I restore not to sell, but just because my dream is to own such a old classic. Perhaps my son may want to sell later on in his life.

Yes I agree. Only the most picky would complain if green much lighter than origional. Should carpet color be the same color as car or seats ?

Thats really helpful. I think if white leather used on green car with white convertible top, it wont look to out of place.

or perhaps white leather with green cord. the dash painted green as well i guess. If car origionally dark green, is it acceptable to change it to a lighter green?

When you carpet floor, does it need to be special typeof car carpet, or can any pile wool carpet do? may be able to get some cheap off cuts from carpet shop. With seat leather, no choice but to go for top quality.

Re: Super Eight Radios

Just contacted people who sell radio parts here in UK. His reply was below , very confusing, do you know what he means?
?
The 6AV6 is a miniature double diode-triode valve (B7G base, all glass) used for detection,n AGC and AF amplification. It makes sense that such miniature valves would be used in a car radio, to save space - but the set is unlikely to function with just the one type of valve. At the very least I'd expect to see an AF output valve. There may be one or more 6AV6's in the set, though. You need the circuit data unless you can find a label somewhere on or in the radio with valve numbers and locations.
Regards
?

If you change the color to your own taste, say for example White leather, would car still be acceptable at shows? I picked White because when we retire to Carribean ( Hopefully ), the White will keep it cool in the sun. Were original seats all leather? Or they had a choice between leather or cloth ? Was vinyl ever used?

Any of you restored seats, back and front? If so, have you done it yourself ? Or have you got professional help repairing/restoring them? Any tips on this please?

So would the Kendal Super D3 15-40 be good for a 1948 Packard ?

Which engine oil do you use? With such old cars, be it 1948, 1954 etc, should the oil be very thin grade ? Is there a favourite that owners use?
And how often do you do a oil change? And how often with the air filters? When engine running, what should you listen for? For any bad signs?
