Joe/Wes- What is on the end of the cable? (left side of pic)

I assume in connects somehow to the coil?

MY cable is missing that part as well.

I drilled out the rivets and that did nothing to allow access to the inside of the switch. Any suggestions?

I would also add to make sure you don't buy the antifreeze for modern cars, as some of the additives are significantly DIFFERENT.

1940 Ignition Switch

Hi my Ignition switch/coil wire is enclosed in an armor cable. I need to replace it and cannot figure out an easy way to open up my ignition switch as it is riveted shut. Is it safe to drill out the rivets to get access to the inside of the switch and the coil wire termination?

thanks

Any suggestions where I can get a brake light connector? The connector is located by the transmission and the brake light switch. It has 2 wires terminating on top and 2 wires terminating on the bottom. Please see attached pic.

Thanks!

Can anyone tell me what type of wood originally would of been used in a 28 533? I currently have a metal dash with vinyl wood grain paper over it. The car was originally modified by Dietrich.

Thanks,
Gar

ACE Generator and Metroplex (in TX) both come to mind. I sure there are others listed on the packard org web site.

Metroplex is one company I have worked with before. Very knowledgeable and willing to take the time to explain all of your options over the phone. I recommend the rebuild vs the repair option. It will come back like new...

Re: flooding carb on super 8

Gar
My 1940 was flooding as well. I used a higher octane fuel (91 vs 87) as I wanted to use fuel without the ethanol. Unfortunately the higher octane fuel has a lower boiling point so fuel would flow into the carb after it was started.

Also, as Owen suggested, check the fuel pressure going to the carb. I believe it should be approx 3 lbs. If you use a electric fuel pump you may need a regulator to lower the pressure on it.
