Best as i remember, i was told that around the time pac made a push to save the proving grounds, they made a push to save the factory and get it on the national historic landmark list. i was told ford was willing to talk. the city of detroit was not, and started demolition on a couple of the buildings. then its been in legal battles since.

Brian, if you hit a dead end at the napa, let me know. i could prob. come up with part numbers they can cross. However, i may have all the parts you need . i parted out a 52 patrician/400 that had manual steering on it. i may have those parts left lay'n around.

PackardV8,

Good Eye! Thanks for pointing out the caliper placement.
The caliper adapter plate did not put the caliper in the proper location. It was back to the machine shop for milling and surface grinding. I am glad that you caught that discrepancy on such small picture. The part has already been reworked.

Thank you
Jerry

Go to your local NAPA store and talk to one of the "old guys". That's what I did on my 63 Tempest front end rebuild. Some of the stuff they get from Kanter, but there are other sources not familiar to any of us not in the biz. I could get EVERY PART from NAPA, if I so chose.

Carl, My rear differential also leaks. Not as bad as yours however. Thanks for bringing it up.It will not need service yet.(I hope.)The rear seal on my Ultramatic leaks more.Still not bad.My guess is I will try to tackle both when the time comes. Brian

Here's the last from Greenwich. 1931 Duesenberg J (Marano), 1931 Marmon 16 convertible sedan (Staley) and 1937 Packard Twelve convertible sedan (owner not known).

Since the displacement of the ZIS is about the same as the Packard 356, I think I'd select a WDO with the same venturi size and jets, or at least the same venturi size and change the jets if required to match the 356. I wouldn't use a WDO from a 288 or 327 engine if these are different which I believe they are. Somewhere I have that data and will look it up, perhaps tomorrow.

Or call Daytona Parts down in Florida; even when you're not a buying customer they've always been very obliging about answering questions. And I believe their website can help identify the exact WDO number for the 356, and also I think the Carb Doctor website has similar information. I believe the number for the 356 with starter switch is WDO 531 SA but best to double check me on that.

Craig, Mike is not familiar with anything prior to 1954.And Yeah, I knew not to go to the "big" suppliers first. The part on the end of the drag link gives a disturbing "clunk" If you hit a bump. it is actually hitting the inner control rod.Its got to go. Brian
