Nominal capacity is 11 quarts. Start out with about 6 quarts, then run the engine briefly to fill the converter. Add another 5 quarts and then check the level as specified. Should be full or within a pint or less.

So from what I gather the only thing stopping a bolt on conversion is space requirements and pedal trevel.

I mentioned it above but, what if you had someone machine a new plate to bolt the booster. It would move the mounting hole down away from the steering column, in towards the pedal, and also angle down a few degrees to better line up the original pedal.

How many psi does the brake system need to run at?

Carl, I would say that whatever you can do to get as much oil circulating in the engine as soon as possible at the lowest rotation rate would be my preferred method. Cars driven frequently would not need the care in starting as those that sit for long periods of time.

Continuing with the electric fuel pump subject. Why complicate your life with an electric fuel pump if one is not needed? There may be situations where one is needed, but I think those would be rare.

As our dear friend Dave often states about electric fuel pumps, 12-volt conversions, electric radiator cooling fans, and other remedies: These things are work arounds for trying to solve a problem without dealing with the core issue. As an old mechanic friend of mine said about one of his peers: "He tends to fix things rather than repair them."

HH56-You are confusing hydroboost with hydrovac, no lines from the P/S pump with hydrovac, just engine vacuum. Been doing a little research and found out that lots of Ford products of the era used hydrovac including the 57 T Bird because of lack of space under the hood. I think if enough leverage can be had from the existing pedal it would be an easy solution.

Robert H. Aller, Kearney, Mo., passed away at home on Friday, May 1, 2009. Robert was employed by Packard Motor Car Company from 1950 through 1957, and then worked for Ford Motor Company until his retirement in 1985. An avid post-war Packard enthusiast, he pursued his hobby with a passion and made countless friends along the way. Robert is survived by his wife, Doris Aller; three sons, Robert and wife Terri Aller, John Aller, and Chris and wife Rebecca Aller; son-in-law Ron and wife Cindy Brown; four grandchildren, Shawn, Connor, Avery, and Zachary, and four great grandchildren. Robert was a member of the Kearney United Methodist Church, Mid-America Packard Club, American Legion Post 405 and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. Terrific observation and recommendation, Tom!!

Years back while tooling along in the 34 after a violet pothole I had a violent shimmy, thought a tire was flat. Got out and looked, tire was OK and continued along a few hundred more yards. Got out to look again and noticed the hubcap was no longer in the center of wheel! Once the 2nd or 3rd spoke snapped (at the hub), I presumed the rest began to fail in rapid succession as there were no longer enough to distribute the load over. I had completely forgotten about this incident, though I still have the wheel, or should I say the remains of the wheel.
