That's kind of a scary thought. What kind of track and what happens if something goes amiss--like a steering or brake job not quite up to spec?

Here is another NYC roof-top story. During WWII Aberchrombie & Fitch had a sale on Mannlicher-Schoenauers (they were a gun store then, not a clothing brand) because the only ammunition for them was German and unobtainable. My father went to see about one and they took him up on the roof to test fire into barrels of sand. If I recall correctly, that was at 38th and Park.

Can you imagine that today, helicopters, SWAT teams?

A tiger's tail by any other name is still a tail. I was just calling it by its generic term, which is a convertible coupe.

You're right, and my car isn't out of storage yet to double check. I'm not sure why I said 22. Sorry.

I've been a die hard chrysler guy all my life. and i'd hate to see them go under. but honestly they have not made anything that i've been willing to buy, with the exception of the first gen intrepid since '93. i'd love to have a challenger, that's the only current product of theirs i'd want. and i can't afford it. so i'll buy a toyota or a subaru if i buy anything new. not even my beloved v.w.'s are very affordable any more. and they are expensive as hell to fix if something internal breaks! Eric i hope you keep good tabs on the Jetta!

What is the plumbing right next to the plate? The plate referenced in the other forum post (believe it a 6) doesn't appear in same place either. Did decals move model to model?

The engine swap was due to the o.e. engine having a busted piston. The custom was the only good running parts car he had. The trans in the "dragon" is an unsynchronized 47 ford school bus trans. uncle tried the modified t/u bellhousing like eric has pictured and was not happy with it. no one in the are at that time had a Packard bellhousing available. however. uncle did find a couple offenhouser? adapter plates for putting ford trannys behind the packard v/8.
so he snapped those up, used one in the "dragon" and one in the new stock car he was building. he put a 3spd o/d from some kind of ford product (a linc. zephyr i think he said?) in it first and was not happy with it. so he went looking for a 4spd. the bus trans was all he could find that he could afford. so in it went.

As for the time slip. no i don't have it. i wish i did. the one man who knows all about the times she turned we can't find. And the track was sold a few years before i got her back and all the records and photos were destroyed by a disgruntled employee.

i called him and verified that he did in fact destroy the records. and he remembers the car and the runs, but not the times.

So i doubt we'll ever know the times, I'll just have to be happy with the trophy and the photos i do have.

I'll try to get them on here soon.

Guscha: I think that I remember that under Wagonor GM has lost $82 BILLION DOLLARS and the stock value has dropped by 95%.

Just a side note Christian Streiff head of Peugeot was also fired today.
