Re: 1928 Voltage Regulator

Home away from home

Gar
Owen,Thank you.

I picked up a NOS relay and have installed it on the generator. BEFORE I hooked the final relay end to the battery I thought I would measure the voltage at the generator end of the cutout relay. It measures just under 24 volts. This seems a bit too high as I was expecting around 7 to 8 VOLTS.
Can the generator be off by that much?

Am I getting 24 volts because I have not hooked up the battery end to the cutout relay?

Thanks

I remeasured the rear height and I get over 7 1/2" on drivers side and 8" on the passengers side top of the rear axle. Spec call for 5.75" to 6.75". Prelim manual indeed...something is amiss.

Owen- Thanks. I saw that in my manual but was looking for something that indicated ground to back bumper or frame member. The offset makes sense, I just had to think about it.
I have a preliminary manual, but I was waiting for the final manual release. I suppose I will be waiting a long time.

thanks again

1940 Rear End /Bumper height

I am trying to determine the correct height of the back of my 1940 Super 8 (1807).

It looks like it is riding too low in the back of the car. I don't know if that is the design, if I need to replace the leaf springs, or if I have another issue.

Thanks for your input.

I am looking for a 1928 voltage regulator on my 6 cyl 533 generator.

Max doesn't have one. Kanter is still checking.

Any direction is appreciated.
Thx

Re: 1928 533 light switch

Gar
The big question is the cowl and opera lights. Should they stay on all of the time?

I am told only in "A" position, which indicate loading or a stopped (think standing zone)car. Currently they are on all the time.

Yes "B" and "C" are fine BUT "A" is on with them.

Gar
Sure.
The light switch for all of the exterior lights (except brake/ bkup and running) is located on the steering wheel just opposite the throttle. The switch slides upwards and has dents(stops) about every 1" of upward movement. At the 1st stop it turns on the "A" lights, if I continue sliding the light switch up and turns on the "B" lights, if I continue to slide it up it turns on the "C" lights.

I am trying to figure out what lights are supposed to be turned on at each stop.

What is the correct sequence for turning on the exterior lights on the steering wheel?

Currently I have three dents:
A - Cowl and Opera Lights
B - Fogs and Low Beams PLUS "A"
C - High Beams PLUS "A"

Thanks,
Gar

Re: 1928 533 clutch issue

Gar
Final update on this issue...

Other issue was not a bearing issue after all but a shifter issue. The last owners that worked on the shifter installed it backwards. They also installed the clutch fork over an inch out of spec so they could get the shifter installed.

It now shifts like a Packard should shift. And if I pay attention to the sound of the motors RPMs, I can usually shift without double clutching. No grinding on this baby!

Thanks for all the help and suggestions
