Who makes new pistons for Third Series?
Home away from home
Home away from home

Bob Supina
Here's my problem....
I am trying to get our Third Series SIX back on the road, but have discovered that the cylinders are all .060 and need to go to .080. Unfortunately, I am told, Egge does not have any .080...and is orienting to muscle cars.

Yes, my other option is to sleeve all the cylinders.

Does anyone know of any other manufacturer of pistons?

There is also a PT boat in the Nimitz Museum in Fredericksburg Texas which has a Packard engine that was donated by the Lone Star Region of PAC.

oil viscosity question....

Bob Supina
I don't know if this question has been answered before, so here goes...

If I mix equal parts of 30w and 50w oil do I get 40w? or is there some molecular disparity that prevents a perfect mix?

Just saw a news article about Jesse.
He is recognized for having developed the Liberty engine.
He was from Charleston, Arkansas.
Check it out on the internet.

Custom car covers?????
Home away from home
Home away from home

Bob Supina
I bought a couple of car covers about 25 years ago from Beverly Hills. Back then there were no options...just blue covers.
Now I am contemplating replacing them and I see that there are loads of options from several companies...2 layer to 7 layer...indoor and outdoor...
I want it primarily for indoor, but am contemplating one outdoor version for when I take the car to shows.
I want a custom cover for our convertible sedan and not just a big generic sheet.
So far I see Covercraft and Beverly Hills on the internet.

I am wondering if anyone out there might have any comments about either...or any other company.
Please reply here or send me a private msg...

I agree with installing a filter in front of the electric pump and ALSO installing a shutoff valve in front of the filter. It certainly makes it easier to change the filter without getting drenched in gas.

How to identify and test condensers?

Bob Supina
I have a box of condensers. Unfortunately they are not stamped with any rating.
How do you test them for rating and whether or not they are good?

When I got into this crazy hobby in 1963 I saw a '37 Packard Twelve Coupe-Roadster advertised for $5,000 and I mused 'Who would pay THAT kind of money!?!?!?'

Sure wish I had had the foresight AND the wherewithal to store a bunch of them....(sigh)
