The 1955 Clipper valve covers are plain with a "Clipper V8" decal, while the 1956 Clipper covers are embossed with the "Clipper" name.

That article was "Conner, Briggs, and Chrysler" by John M. Lauter in TPC #126 (Spring 2007)

Dale Lyons owned that hardtop. I saw it at the Packard Club National Meet in Detroit in 1982. It had a 5587 number, but the paint and trim codes were blank.

Take a CLOSE look at the interior photos. (#27, #28, #29) Is that a =manual= brake pedal that I see? If so, it's very rare for a 1955-56 Senior.

And, what's that object hidden in the left-front fender...?

There is only a 4 point deduction per tire (according to the 2009-2010 PAC Directory, page 38). As radials were NEVER offered on any new Packards, there must be a point deduction, but IMHO maybe only 1 or 2 points per tire.

Shouldn't that be "June 5th, 2011" not "2001"? Just asking...

I saw this Patrician at a car show several years ago, and according to my notes, the serial number is 5582-3197.

This is a design by Fred Hudson, who worked at Packard from 1954-56. See the issue of the Packard Cormorant from about a year ago for many more drawings of his work. He died a short time ago.

The 1953 or 1954 Annual Report shows Packards and Packard Clippers coming down the dual assembly line.
