I was wondering if a 55 caribbean with single carb could be changed to dual carbs or is the motor built different and what are the differences.

steering shimmie on 1929
Home away from home
Home away from home

I had the problem before and it was fixed for several years and now it shimmies after hitting several hard bumps. Several years ago it did this and I replaced the tie rod with a good one also all new pins and bushings in the front. and new springs because the bushings fit loose in to the old springs. I jack it up this morning and everything seems tight but I did notice that when moving the left front wheel back and forth with my hands at the 9 and 3 oclock position the axle was moving front to back . The axle moves because the trunion springs and the links on the front let it rock back and forth. most cars today have 1 end of the spring pined to the frame so it cannot move front and back. Is there any type fix or update for this? Thanks for any help

I found a Paper tag behind the serial number plate on a 1929 626 . The car was parked in 1955.I dont think the serial number plate was ever removed till today. I was wondering if the tag means anything or somehow got in there over the years. It says AP 592

Re: Aluminum block cleaning Question

Thanks for all the response I probably spent 4 to 6 hours on the phone. Some places said they could do it but even though I gave them the measurements when I got there they said there machine was to small. I found a place called automotive and industial machine in Souderton Pa I dropped it off a day or so ago. They did say that they paint the block with aluminum paint after its clean. They are working on several aluminum block engines now. I also called the aircraft place they had the same style machine but to small for the Packard engine but I thought it was a good suggestion. Where Packard engine aluminum crankcases Painted from new?
