Are 57 and 58 Packards really Packards

They were produced by the Studebaker-Packard Corp. Are they legitimate Packards? I can remember when some of us,and I will not mention Owen Dyneto, did not consider 55 and 56 "Packards" to be real Packards.Would like to get some thoughts.

Correct.Maybe $3.00 a gallon Gas tax would cure our health care, our pollution and our balance of payment problem with all those oil countries that love us so well.

We spent about 100 years in an effort to give these basic benefits to the average worker while the Robber Barons cried about the fact that they now had to pay taxes. Now that times are tough, its the worker that is the problem. No one seems to complain about the excessive salaries of our CEO's.I can remember when the Chrysler/Mercedes Benz union was going through, they published the salaries of their CEO's.Chrysler-$7.5 Millon, Mercedes Benz-$450,000.00.Hmmm.Something just seems a little out of wack.Maybe our companies would do better if we had the free health care offered by Europe and Japan.

Ozstatman.I no longer own that car.I sold it in 1979 to buy a red Pontiac LeMans convertible.I have registered my 22nd series Custom Eight and I will do my 56 Patrician as soon as I get a Picture-sometime in the Spring.Keep up the good work.

I saw an original one owner 55 Clipper Custom Constellation with 14K miles on it and the engine was turquoise. My 55 400 engine was Ivory. Both cars were equipped with the Packard 352 CID engine.

Sounds more like a $65.00 parts car.Its only saving grace is the fact that its a coup.Pass it up and keep looking.

I see what you mean. That is a real shame.I think I have only seen three Custom 8 club sedans in the last 20 years.I understand that there wasn't even one at the Packard Centennial in Warren.Big Kev is right about the water distribution tube.If you can it would be well worth a look.

What is wrong with the Temp gauge in the car? Why not get a new one and keep the car original?

I had a picture (cannot locate it now) of the Pierce Arrow plant in Buffalo with a few dozen engine blocks sitting out in the snow. The caption indicated that they usually stayed out close to a year to cure.

I have a problem with my 56 Patrician.Upon hard acceleration, I get a severe vibration that smooths out after a few seconds. If you kick it down at high speed, it jumps and there is no vibration.Any thouhts?
