Owen.I recently had the chance to go for a ride in the new Chevy Malibu. To the people who don't believe we can make a Toyota-Nissan type car and do it better-take a test drive. As far as benefits go, you are correct. Our companies have to pay for things that Japan and Europe provide for their citizens .I also cannot believe that these Congressman and Senators are lecturing these companies when they just gave $350 billion dollars to banks to pay for year end bonuses and multi million dollar salaries.

I find it interesting that all the people who tell me how bad American cars are made have not owned or driven one since the late 70s.Maybe we should let them go belly up.That way we can give up the last vestige of American Manufacturing and we can become the Third World "has been" that we have been striving to become since about 1980.

The site Owen referred to is www.savetheptboatinc.com.It is the story of Vets out in Washington who find and restore an old PT boat (PT 658).It has great pictures of the restoration and the three Packard 12's.It also has a link to let you hear the engines in operation.Well worth a look and even a donation if you are so inclined.

Owen.I hear nothing about the 1965 Packard V12 featured in the Packard Cormorant issue # 107 summer 2002.You have a neighbor who said he has two of those V12s in his garage. You don't think its a fake, do you?

Don't have any pictures yet and I am still getting a history of the car.I see that a picture of my 22nd series Custom Eight is already on the Websight under Packard pictures 1948.

Correct. They do not rebuild the pumps. They just modify them.

Owen, you must be a psychic. That is the car.Probably less than 600 miles on it since the rebuild.Although the rebuild included almost all new parts, I was able to verify with the former owner that the old oil pump was not as neither he nor the rebuilder knew of the problems with these pumps.I spoke with Mike Dulinski and he suggested the PI fix.I asked about the Bob Aler pump.He said he does meticulous work but a customer just installed one on his car and it promptly failed. He mentioned that he was able to solve the problem on his car. When I inquired as to how he accomplished this feat, he said he installed a Chrysler 440 CID engine.I don't think that this is the way I want to go.

I am new to this forum.I have been reading this topic with great interest as I just purchased a 56 Patrician and the lifters like to sing when I am going down the highway.Since this kit is no longer available, what would you suggest I do to remedy this matter?
