Beautiful cars Williej. I am sure they are a joy to drive. What's the history on the Custom Eight or did I miss it?

Yes, you can try Flackmaster through this site. Another possible source is Ron Aquino. Ron's number is 413-565-2286. No website but email is jrpackardron@aol.com

Tom and Roman:

Local Chicago area events can be found through this link -

Scroll down and click on "What We're Doing In 2009"

Tom, you are real close to me (Naperville). Can I come over and play too?

Hey Roman,

Are you a member of Packards of Chicagoland (POC)? It's a great group of people who share a passion for these great cars. We are actively looking for younger members. Let me know if you're interested and I'll shoot you a PM with more details.

Lots of events and tours coming up this summer. Love to have you join us.

So many cars....but only a few choices:

20's - Model 645 Deluxe Eight Sport Phaeton (1929)
30's - 1108 Dietrich Coupe Roadster (1934)
40's - 1940 Darrin Victoria
50's - 1956 Caribbean Convertible

Hmmm...all convertibles.

Congratulations on the dream job Eric. It's amazing how these things seem to work out. The P-51 is one of the "sexiest" planes ever built.

Carl, sorry to hear about the crash of the Tuskegge P-51. My dad is a member of the Tuskegee Airmen, Detroit chapter. He is not an original Tuskegee grad (joined the Air Force in the 50's)but he served with many of them in his 26 year career. I've had the honor of meeting several of these gentlemen over the years.

Dave,

Regarding the Vignale Packard. Wasn't it on the 1939 120 chassis? Does it qualify as a CCCA Classic because it's a one off custom body?

Very interesting contrast with the RR.

At first glance this looks like a solid specimen. Chrome and stainless look good. Can you poke around a bit to look for rust problems (floors, trunk, rockers) just to make sure? I don't know the 48-50 models real well but if this runs and stops, $3K sounds very reasonable.

Carl,

I just sent you an email with an attachment from the 1951-54 Service Manual. Outlines fender and grille removal. Check it out.
