Fred

I believe I have one that is made by Burr Ripley that would work. New and uses a modern spin on oil filter, but looks original. Contact me at hiway9999@hotmail.com and I will send you a picture.

Re: 1928 Horn Button -wiring issue

If you mean that there is no continuity between the horn wire at the wheel and the #9 terminal on the lighting switch, then the wire is bad. It is not terribly hard to replace. The wire runs down the central tube in the steering column. You will need to remove the lighting switch cover. It might be best to attach a small wire or cord to the old wire as you pull it thru from either the wheel end or the switch end so that you can use it to pull the new wire thru.

Good luck,

Jim

I have an extra spotlight conduit with ferrule that attaches to the spotlight body if anyone is in need of one. Presentable chrome. Conduit is approximately 22" long and 5/16" in diameter. It will fit my 640 and probably many other models. Contact me at hiway9999@hotmail.com if interested.

If you need parts for the lighter, I have a couple of "parts" lighters I can cannibalize.

1929 640 Oil Pressure
#36

I started up my motor for the first time since rebuilding and do not get any pressure reading at the guage. I tested the guage and it works. There is no oil getting to the guage. I took off the cylinder oiler valve and checked it and it seems to operate fine (thought that shouldn't affect the pressure. There is oil in the line to the filter and to the cylinder oiler so I know that the pump is at least minimally pumping. Any thoughts? I am hesitant to run the engine any more until I get this sorted out.

1929 Large 8 Carburetor

Having finished the restoration of my 640 Phaeton, I have no need of my second carburetor. It is the early 1929 variant which is made by Detroit Lubricator, but badged as a Packard carburetor. It has been restored with new needle and seat and re-plated parts. Only part missing is the cap for the needle "tickler". Interested parties should contact me directly at hiway9999@hotmail.com.

Does anyone know a source for the slotted oval head tube nuts that secure the battery box cover to the battery box.
