I can not find where the timing marks are as I dont see any hole or a pointer or the vibration damper. As it is all enclosed. Thinking it should be around where the starter is on the drivers side of the car or am I looking at the wrong place. Or do I need to remove the starter to see the timing marks? I have a timing light so hopefully I can find the timing marks.

I have a starter that is giving me fits, the car will start from cold, even starts after I have just turned it off from a 10 mile drive it will start right up several times, but let it set 20 or 30 minutes after the drive and it will not start, hardly turnig over the engine at all like the battery is dead. Then leave it set another 30 minutes or hour and it will start right up again.
I am wondering could be that there is a high spot or something in the starter. I have checked all the connections on the battery and starter and all are tight. How could I check this out, wondering it anybody else has the same problem. Thanks

I sent Jason a generator a few weeks ago off of a 34 1101 and I have been calling him and even email him with not reply back, finally last week I was able to get hold of him on the phone and he said he will look into my generator this week. I think he is just so busy to get back to us on a timely fashion. But he knows what is doing from talking to him. So felt good I had sent it to him.

So now the generator is not charging when I hold the points closed, I can see some blue arcing from the generator when I hold them down and those rods on the bottom of the cut out getting really red. So guess I will need to have it checked out professionally to see what is going on.

On the back side of the cut out relay where the thumb screw there is a fuse when I unscrew it all the way out.
To adjust the third brush can it be done with the generator on the car just by removing the band around the end of the generator.
Also when I get the points to close by pushing them down there is some charging according to the amp guage.

Thanks to everyone for your help so far.

On my 34 1101 eight cylinder the amp guage was hardley charging (3-4 amp) and the battery will be run down after a long drive. Now it is not charging at all. I was looking at replacing the voltage regular but cant find one from Napa or Max Merritt does not have one. Does any one know where I can find a replacement as I am thinking that is the problem. when I charge the battery with a battery charger it will start for several times before the battery goes dead, I have already replaced the battery. The replacement for the regulator is #21262 Any help would be greatful.
