Well In some cases the printed more books then there where cars. Of course it dose not apply on every USSR vehicle.
I have a collection of USSR car literature, no ZIS books, but I have the most common vehicle literature there was availabel in the 60-80s.

In a local Estonian old timers forum, one of the administrators decided to sell a ZIL 111 spare parts catalog.

He claims, the book is rare and there is hardly any change to get another one like this, no price range given.

Gerd and others, what do you think would be the fare price for this book? Any comments?

Rusty I don't think the worlds oil reserves are empty(multiplied studies have proofed the opposite), its not about that and has never been about oil shortage. Read Lindsey Williams book: The energy Non-crisis.
And 5 USD a gallon? Well that is only going to be the start I belive.

Its not much different in Estonia, names like Packard,AMC,Plymouth,Nash, Studebaker etc are known to 2 persons out of 50 the most, usually in the age groups of 60-80 years old persons. Most young people have never heard or even seen any live Studebakers or hardly any pre-war cars at all. Packard I hope is in these days better known to his relationship to ZIS cars, but it take a lot of time to tell someone what the name Packard stands for and even more to tell what a ZIS car is.

I was not sure first when I saw the pictures if its really the same car Gerd described, but thank you for reminding me of this vehicle. Its rather unfortunate that its in Latvia not in Estonia anymore but It could be worse, maybe its for the best that it was both up by a museum, then letting it rot for year and then in the end recycling it to make new Hondas. Im happy it has not went this way.

Its nice to see that Gerd has found and posted some of the known Estonian Packards from the old times.
Im not sure of this cars history but If you wish I might do a little research on that vehicle.
In my opinion those black licence plates fit the car perfect.

New I found something that got my attention at the first sight:
Look at this a prototype GAZ-13 with two headlights and a different grill.
Resized Image

hmm this grill resembels a 1957-58 Plymouth grill.. or
reminds me of this deadly vehicle...

Resized Image

but maybe Im just confusing two different things, but it would be interesting to know why did they abandon that consept?

If I remember correct then a company in California made vintage car battery replicas. My frend both a Delco replica battery for his 1953 Cadillac and it was about 490 bucks back in 2007. Maybe this information is helpfull.

Steve
A local Canadian-Estonian named M?rt Kirik has also investigated the possibility of using methanol or ethanol as a car fule. I searched the internet for some of his articles but found only thouse published in Estonian newspapers, and that would be no help here since Im the only one that could read the contens.
He was really found of the idea of using ethanol as a fule for cars, he did a lot of research on that topic when he lived in Canada. I have personally met whit him and he told me a lot of the ethanol based fule and the good things that come whit it.

But I have a some conserns about the new fule standarts that allow to use more ethanol in fules. I mean maybe for a low compression flathead engine it would be ideal but
what about high compression engines and the fact that it would eat away all the gasgets in the carburetor?
I still havent read the hole topic but I try to keep track.
