Thank you HH56.

And with that understanding, my trim is 84; which is black cloth with gold thread running through it; so the dash should be black in color?

Hopefully maybe someone in packardinfo land can attach or send me an image of such an interior (black cloth with black dash)?

Much appreciated.

Please excuse and permit a question. The padded dashes, how were they assigned colors? Would the trim code dictate ?

Stewart........when I purchased my 400 years ago......I discovered different shoes on the car. On one set as I recall, some one ground-down (adapted
....that's putting it nicely) part of the shoes and things were a mess inside the drums. Frankly, things were damn unsafe. As I learned from some of the fellows back in the day, I could acquire real original shoes from Minnesota Mike Dulinski. That's what I ended up doing. I've learned since that senior and junior brake shoes are different too as well. When I parted my '55 Patrician (partial donor for the 400) I removed all the brake shoes and other components. Keep me posted if you should need me to pull out those parts again.

(BTW.....summer heat here ate my group 27 battery. Why does an 85 month battery only last 49 months?)

When the 400 finally sells.......a specimen such as this will find aid and comfort under my roof. May not be original. ...but I like this car.

Stewart......let me look in the shop. I have a big box of brake components off a parts car. If I do I'll send to you under one condition. Please tell me what you do with lavender?

Just received my AACA May/June 2015 magazine. Please turn to page 27. Clearly a Clipper Constellation is being depicted here. What could have been?

Makes me want to remove a top from a junior car and make a similarly conceived automobile to enjoy. Just saying.

The 56 barn find from Sacto......it looks strange. No gear selector on column. Looks like a shifter protruding from the trans hump.

Looks like a fun class to learn a technique or two. I bet too that the instructor would be a good person to network with as well.
