Couple of new FB Marketplace postings I spotted this afternoon:

1951 200 Club Sedan. Very rusty parts car. Gaping holes rusted in trunk area, floor pan and lower body. Drive train is intact, and glass looks good. Asking $1K. Carmel, NY:

1939 120 Sedan. Very nice restoration. Looks like new paint and interior. Clean, sharp looking car. Has radio. Bail shell hood ornament. Seller asking $13K. Columbia, TN:

1950 Standard Eight Club Sedan. Body looks solid, interior worn and stained, especially driver's area on front seat. Appears to be all original. Has accessory sun visor. Seller asking $15K. Wyoming

1921 Twin Six Phaeton. Older restoration looks pretty decent overall. Appears some work being done to car as hood is off. Engine compartment very clean and engine may have been recently painted. Asking $49,500. Waxahachie, TX:

You are right. The '54's have the fin on top of the headlight ring and the dash is different. Pictures of that '53 convertible are poor and don't show the rear of the car which is also different on a '54 model. Agree this car is really overpriced. I'm thinking about $1k should be enough. There are a lot of trashed 1950's Packards out there for sale right now and I doubt that very many of them will ever be restored.

Unfortunately, that is where I am seeing the majority of Packards for sale these days, particularly those at the lower end of the market or project cars. Craigslist has fallen off dramatically in recent years for collector car postings. Many older collectors are passing on and their kids just want to get rid of the cars. They are familiar with Facebook, not with the club sites or Hemmings. So, that is where the cars are getting advertised. I am just trying to find homes for some of these cars by reposting the ads here.

Thought I would post this ad separately due to the number of cars involved. Want to make sure that everyone on our forum sees this ad as it is a significant find. All are rough from years of outdoor storage, but some may be restorable. Others are obviously parts cars. According to the ad, here is what he has: 5 convertibles, 2 Mayfair's, 2 2 door sedans, 5 Patrician's, and many 200, 250, and 300s. I have a 1938 110 sedan that is very solid and had a rebuilt engine ready to install. there are 3 46,47 cars one 1954 Panama and 1 1954 Caribbean (it is a '53 and it's really rough and incomplete; the '54 ragtop is the regular model). Cars are located in Iowa. Here is the link:

Just posted today on FB:

1949 (22nd Series) Custom Eight Sedan. Very nice original car. Ad states car runs. Asking $15K. Trenton, NJ. If you want a Custom Eight, this looks like a good one:

Another recent posting; has been up for a while:

1953 Patrician. Unrestored original car which runs and drives and apparently is currently registered. Very solid and rust-free body. Has some collision damage to rear trunk lid. Unfortunately, the interior is pretty rough, especially the front seat area. But I think it is a good value at the asking price of only $4,500. Michigan:

1955 Clipper Constellation. Older restoration that has been in storage for the past 20 years. Nice paint and interior. Asking $12,500. Sterling heights, MI:

1955 Patrician. Ad states 30K original miles. Looks exceptionally clean with a beautiful original brocade fabric interior. Solid white. Asking $14,900. Johnson City, TN:

Hi Flackmaster. Think you should go for it. I recently had to pay $550 for a new manifold for my '39 Six as mine was warped and cracked beyond repair. It is a hard part to find, as I found out. So, if this car has a good manifold, $400 is not unreasonable. And maybe there are a few other useable bits left.

Couple of new FB Marketplace postings:

1939 Six Sedan. Badly rusted and riddled with bullet holes. Little if anything appears to be salvageable. One of the roughest Packards I have ever seen anyone trying to sell. Ad states it is a 120 but it is a Six. Seller asking $400. Maybe some of the running gear might be salvageable. Wisconsin:

facebook.com/marketplace/item/2357001777 ... f15e12c-9717-4860-b592-a9dd297a6091

1955 400. Pictures too blurry to accurately assess condition but what I can see looks pretty bad. Car has been left outside for years with the back windshield knocked out and is very rusty. Seller asking $900. Ad states car is a 1956 but it is a 1955 model. Oneida, NY:

facebook.com/marketplace/item/1851208592 ... 0ffe2f1-9593-42ab-8fbc-28fb5c9a371a

1954 Convertible. Rough, rusty parts car looks like it has been left outside for many years. But may yield some good mechanical and trim parts. Does look complete. Seller asking $6,900 which is obviously way too much for a car in this rough a condition. New Hampshire:

facebook.com/marketplace/item/4741739654 ... 0ffe2f1-9593-42ab-8fbc-28fb5c9a371a

1950 Eight Club Sedan. Not sure of model. Abandoned restoration project. Glass is out. Needs everything but body looks really solid. Interior was done in vinyl and should be redone. Asking $1,000. Oklahoma:

Yikes! What a terrible thing to do to a '52 Mayfair. This is a pretty rare model. Cops back in the '50's would never have used a hardtop as a squad car. In the TV show "Highway Patrol", Broderick Crawford always drove a two door post sedan. And they were V8 powered Buicks, which actually were used by the California Highway Patrol at the time. Not sure how well a straight eight Packard would have worked out as a patrol car.

The scamming is getting really bad online. Facebook Marketplace is now loaded with scammers and they are even infiltrating the private chat groups. Makes you not want to buy anything anymore. And if you list something yourself, you run the risk of attracting scammers who will try running some kind of bad check scheme or other fraud on you. Guess that you cannot be too careful these days. Only deal with people face to face or with people you know or who may otherwise be vouched for. Very sad. We used to have a good hobby and could generally trust people, but no more. A lot of these scammers aren't even in the country, so if you get a response which is filled with bad grammar, it is likely a scam. Big red flag. Another red flag is overly formal language, like addressing you as Sir. No one talks like that unless they are trying to gain your confidence so they can scam you.
