White Glove:

I have spoken a handful of times with Crin, seems like a straight shooter, knowledgeable and helpful. I suspect He will be getting back to you and resolve your issue. White Glove is only a one person operation. I know a small handful of Packard owners who have loaned their shiny treasures to him for casting and reproduction so the rest of us can have access to these rare parts.

1929 Hood Ornaments:3(x2) Designs -smooth sided caps and ornate. 2 sizes.

Google search a 1929 Packard hood ornament and you will see the proper design. Or better yet buy the 1929 Packard Accessory Catalogue and you will see ALL the original items and pictures to boot. White Glove has nothing for 1929 yet.

Your car has the small radiator, thus the small diameter hood ornament on the 626/633.The Big cars, 640/645 have bigger radiators and the 3 1/2 diameter ornaments.

Hope it all works out. We need someone to continue to supply these special items.

Greg

640/645 Water Pump Needed

I sent my water pump off to be rebuilt, the Main casting is too far gone. According to the Parts Manual my pump is one year only, and only for the large 8 in the 640/645. It mounts on the front of the engine, not down low on the side.

I have all the usual's looks and scouring. Any suggestions?

I have a nearly complete 640 Club sedan parts car - but no pump. What do you need? Lets get these cars back on the road.

Thanks guys. Does nickel plating include the instrument bezels, the dash openings around the gauges, and the lower trim piece? I'm working on the wood graining of my dash next next.

I have the same hardware for my 640 Club Sedan. It all needs to be plated. Was it Nickle or Chrome in the interior.

I have no experience with this gauge but I may need one once I fire up my engine again.

An eight page article with color pictures entitled, "Packard Vin Tags" by Jim Balfour can be found in, THE CORMORANT NEWS BULLETIN. Volume LVI #11 dated November, 2021. All you ever wanted to know is in that article. The author also invited the readers to contact him for additions and corrections aehbajb@gmail.com. His detailed chart for every years lists 1929 as variety D-16(his numbering system for all the photos in the article), used from 1925-1933. Material: Brass with etched background. Size:4 1/2 x 3 1/4. Best identifier is "600 U.S. Patents".

Patents numbers on the data tags started with #1 in 1904 and was updated on the tags every couple of years through 1937 at #1350. The size of the Tag changed also changed through the years.

If I was more techy I would include the pictures of the whole article!!
