Marsden nuts were supposedly invented by a Packard employee and they gripped the bolt so tight that they wouldn't loosen. It has been a long time since I read about them.

There was a postwar Packard with this device installed at the Frick estate in Pgh. Frick is a four-letter word in Pgh though and I've never been there. After searching their website there is no mention of this auto.

Thank you old friend. I'd forgotten about that project blog - I think I'm getting old!

I will take pics tomorrow and post them. Car was purchased as a personal car by a Packard dealer. His son (same name Jr,) said his folks loved the car.

I don't think I've posted this before, but apologize if it's a repeat. I purchased this Patrician because it is so unusual, but am going to sell it as soon as I get it roadworthy. Take a long look at the build sheet - purchased by a Packard dealer for his own use. It had everything but seat belts. I think this may be the only Patrician to come off the line with wire wheels.

Good luck Brenda with your chemo. My oldest daughter is undergoing same treatment. I have three Packards, but enjoy my 400 the most as I've driven it everywhere. I hope you get as much enjoyment from yours as I do from mine.

There is a seven-prong plug up under the left side of the dash that feeds the rear wiring and if those brass contacts have oxidized to the point where they won't conduct electricity it will drive you nuts. I used a brass bristle brush in my dremel to polish up the male and female parts of that plug and my courtesy lights work again. I hope you find your problem.
