1940 Packard 180

Well I just bought this car about a week ago and as with any old car acquisition I found a few bugs. The charging system seems to have a problem. When it came home and we started it up we noticed a ticking sound coming from the generator gauge ( I have included a link to a youtube video that shows this occurring). The car has an 8 volt heavy duty commercial battery and I know these cars came with 6 volts If you say replace it ill do it tomorrow. The more you step on the gas the more it discharges. Of course my first thought was the generator went bad. But before i throw some money at the problem I want to know some opinions. Here is the link:https://youtu.be/YAxAatfTVKw

One more question, where is the wiper head mounted to the firewall or under the dash?

does anyone have a schematic for how the vacuum lines are routed to the wiper motor? Or a picture?

Well after having my best offer on that 34 super 8 turned down. I decided to go down and at least look at it. Well this car exceeded my expectations so now I own it! The car drove like a champ the chrome gleamed and the interior looked great.

I saw this 1940 Packard 180 listed on ebay with Orlando Classic cars I wondered if anyone knows of this car or its history. It was sold new in Boston.

Probably a silly question did the 1940 Packards come equipped with turn signals?

If it were my car I would add an auxiliary transmission cooler in front of the radiator.

Has anyone seen the 1938 Super 8 club sedan for sale off of craiglist in Old Bridge NJ? It says the engine was recently rebuilt and it appears to be a nice original car. The asking price was just under 30K
