Maybe someone here has a clue on Part numbers I tried to buy some brake shoes for a '56 Clipper only to find they were 2" wide vs 2.5" which was needed. Are these something I can get at a NAPA??

I'm interested even if the back seat is all you have, if you have both that would be ideal. I'm going to a upholstery shop next week and see what they can do.

Thanks to all responders, to answer the questions:
- I looked at the website for SMS, and their sample did not seem to match the car, so yes I can contact them with the trim codes to see if they supply this material - I'm attaching photos of the front seat which needs the attention most, and the fabric is a match for the photos from "Let the ride decide" It appears you may have some new old stock seat covers if so let me know I would like to buy hem if they are available - There is a photo of the trim code its 55 so that's what I'd like to locate if possible. The design of the seat covers is kind complex, not sure if an average car upholstery shop could reproduce this sort of thing?? I would be interested if anyone here has done this or who they worked with to do it??

I have looked through the forums here on seat fabrics and seen one source recommended SMS. They offer a product but it doesn't match what is in my car, I'm wondering if there are other suppliers that might offer something like this (see attachment)

I substituted a voltage regulator in the car I had and that did nada for me. I pulled the gen and took it to a local electrical rebuilder in a nearby town and the overhauled the generator.
I picked it up a week ago and put the car back together yesterday and that got me going again. I tried to order the one wire alternator from a place called Quality Power and ended up getting a unit for a 56 tbird, totally the wrong thing. so I sent it back. I contacted Powermaster tech support and they recommended a different unit so I may go that route in the spring. One of the other posters here mentioned a one wire alternator, just wondering what unit you used and how that worked out. For the poweremater units different size pulleys are available, was wondering if you ran int any issues installing this unit??

generator troubleshooting

My '56 Clipper has the gen light on and I'm trying to puzzle out why.
Went for a trip this week end of about 200 miles it got pretty rainy/foggy and the car sat in a pretty good downpour for about a 1/2 hour. When I started it the generator light went out when I reved the motor, I made it home and now it wont go out. I can still start the car, it has a new battery from earlier this year so it seems to be holding a charge as its not getting charged I went over today with a meter and tried some things _ I swapped a spare voltage regulator that came with the car when purchased that had no effect gen light still on. - The checked battery terminal on the regulator has power from +12 - I tried grounding the field side of the gen, which takes the regulator out of the circuit I think no output either so I guess that just leaves the generator as a problem? Am I overlooking something here???

Door Handle remove and replace
|

Just can't stay away

I have a '35 1200 sedan, and the door handle has developed a problem There is a ring behind the door handle that can be tightened/loosened to make the door handle function. Its pot metal and in tightening it a portion of it cracked. I have a replacement, so my question is how tough is it to replace.
I'm thinking the door handle will just come out if I fully loosen the ring but I'm not sure. The door cards are stapled to the doors wooden structure so I'm hoping I don't have to deal with that. Any thoughts on how this comes apart??

OK thanks for the clarification, the entire system was rebuilt 2 years ago so it sounds like we are talking the hoses at each wheel, I believe those were replaced at each wheel and the wheel cylinders were rebuilt. The vacuum lines I'm not sure about thanks for your insights!

Thanks for you thoughts on this issue, the hoses your mentioning specifically where are they? Internal to the master or else where?
