Thank you David. My trim is missing and I wanted to be able to recognize it if I came upon the opportunity.

What sort of Chrome trim was on sides of the hood for a 1939 120? Close up photo would be appreciated.

Mine has a sealed beam conversion but I think I have the original switch. I think the easiest approach wound be to follow the wiring diagram for the 1940 + . SOUNDS LIKE THE OLD "DIMMER" SWITCH PLAYED A BIG PART IN THE OLD SYSTEM.

Thanks JW, for your quick response.
I was counting "off" as one position when I called it a "4" position switch.
Sounds complicated. Like telling someone how to drive a T-Model; easier to do than describe.
Did other cars of this era use a similar approach and how long did Packard use this system.? Was it dropped with the sealed beam system of 1940?

Can some one explain the function of the 4 position light switch and how the dimmer switch relates in the actions.
Someone converted my car to sealed beamed and rewired the lighting circuit with a all green wire color wire.
Does the dimmer just act on the high beam by cutting out just one headlight?

I would vote for the condenser.

When I have to go to all the rusty work of removing a manifold, especially a long intake manifold, I like to take it down to the local machine shop for a surface dressing.
Just took a 100 year old T-model Ford cylinder head down and machinist took 3 passes to get it flat.

Does't take much to "justify" another project.
Thanks

Thanks Howard,
I was aware GM had them in 39 and I hoped Packard did also. Located the reservoir in an Atlanta shop but did not want to "dress up" my 39 120 with a later accessory.
