So are you saying that left and right are the same?

I have the Delco front shocks on my 38 1601. Is there a left and right shock and if so how can you tell the difference? I can't seem to find part numbers

You shouldn't have to add any antifreeze at all. T would do a compression check. Bubbling in the radiator would indicate a faulty head gasket. Is there white smoke while driving? A leaky head gasket doesn't always show up in the oil.

R11 on ebay

For anyone in the Delavan WI area there is a 1950 Packard motor and R11 transmission on Ebay and the bid is only $200. I don't know how to post a link but just search for 1950 Packard motor and transmission. Auction ends in 2 days. If it were closer to me I would snag it just for the transmission alone

I've heard some rumblings about a Packard show in New Hampshire in 2023- Does anyone have any info on this?

I installed an R11 OD in my 38 coupe and I don't run a kickdown switch. I have a toggle switch on the dash to make or break the connection from the governor to the relay. With the connection to the relay and governor in the "on" position and going over about 25 MPH I just lift or the gas for a second and I'm in OD. To get out of OD just flip the switch to "off" and touch the clutch. I find that I very rarely need to get out of OD.

My 38 coupe (120) has a decal still somewhat intact. If you hold a light just right you can make out the numbers. In order to make life easier in the future I stamped the number into the frame rail near the steering box.
