I wonder if anyone has patterns for the 1940 169 touring sedan interior panels. I have the door panels and a couple extra pieces, but I'm missing lots of others.

The local shop gave me a price of 2,500 to recore the radiator for my 1940 160 super eight. So I mailed it to cgj.com or Brice radiator. He made a pattern and copied it. Looks great, not perfectly original and no thermostat for the grill shudders. But all new and done for 895. So he's made the pattern.

I'm restoring a 1940 160 Packard. Local radiator shop says it doesn't hold pressure. But it's not supposed to hold much so try it. I'd rather replace it with a new one. Cgj.com list one for a 1937 at 895 dollars. There are model a replacements for 350 v8s that run about 200. Has anyone found a replacement at a reasonable price that fits a1940?

What are the other flushing oils I could use to do this?

I have cleaned the sump and everything I can get to. She ran when i took her apart. As I wouldn't be starting it,I don't think I can damage the cylinders. Just worried about oil passages to the lifters.

i am "rebiulding" a '40 super eight(356) and the oil passages look rather dirty, in all the engine was in great shape except a hydraulic lifter had ruined a lobe on the cam. so i was worried it may have been from a lack of oil. the oil passage access plugs are tight and i didn't want to force them. so my brilliant idea was to turn it over with diesel instead of oil for a while, not start, to clean it. has anyone done this? my dad says he used to idle cars with diesel to clean them a long time ago.
