That's getting vey close to figuring out the shift quadrant problem---Thanks!
Now I have a oil seal that I bought many years ago for the Ultramatic # CR 21172 and CR 18785 Anyone know what or where it goes? Checking that number on the internet , and some are for sale on e-bay, but they don't say what it is for. Transmission is leaking where the torque tube is attached, so wonder if this is a rear transmission oil seal.( which I probably need) Anyway, the Packard people on here have been great on helping me with this car, as the Hudson people don't want anything to do with it. Been involved with PI for a long time, and they accept my car, and elected me President of the Northern Nevada Chapter. Packard People Are Great!

It shifts fine, it's just finding the right gear on the Quadrant. Happened before, about 20 years ago and it was fixed by Moose Motors in Penngrove California. We moved over 300 miles away to Nevada since then.

Also the Ultramatic shift quadrant is not lining up correctly, as you can't tell what gear you are in.

Yes, that's why I said that. My friend Lester Harris has some but they are over 60 years old and sitting in a hot warehouse where they are crumbly. Some things I do not want NOS along with gaskets that come in contact with oils and the gasoline we have today.

Since we are on the subject of the Rochester 4GC, is there any way to hook up the bottom of the carburetor, to a gas tank return line? The 352 engine on my car had originally a return line at the bottom of the Carter 2 barrel carburetor to the gas tank. It is still there but not hooked up. Never had vapor lock. Now I do have it. Been told that could be part of the problem with the conversion. Really like the power upgrade with the 4GC, but it seems to flood more, and most likely needs a rebuild or adjustment. Re-installing the 2 barrel is not an option !
