Iam in the process of putting my 37 together again and my rubber was definetly attached to to the body and not the vent. I put in some universal weatherstrip that is quite soft and it seems to compress very tight. It will be al least a month before I get it all together and be able to test for leaks.

Hi Packard helpers. I need some advice on how to remove the horn button on a 41 Packard 100 The usual push down and turn does not work and I am hesitant to pry in case I break something. The horn blows on bumps and when turning and I think the wire down the colum is worn and bare in spots.

Update on the 282 manifold. Finally got the motor in and running. There are no leaks in the manifold gaskets and everything sounds and looks good. Hoping to drive it by May for a better test. Thanks for all the advice even though I did not follow all of it. :-D :thanks:

Thanks for the advice guys. I am currently making extra gaskets for the exhaust ports. Iknow this isnt right but I dont want to split the manifold and possily break it. The body work is also taking a lot longer so I might not drive it till May.

I am rebuilding my 282 and am wondering about the exhaust manifold being set back approximately 1/16 of an inch from the intake. is this normal? If so what takes up the space?Currently there are round spacers there but they leak. Any help would be appreciated.

I had a similar problem with my gauge going up and down very slowly. It was dirt in the oil line partly obstructing the flow. After removing and blowing out the line it returned to normal.

Ihave removed hinge pins by welding a small bolt an a C calmp and spacing the top with a nut. This enables you to put maximum pressure on the pin and apply heat if neccesary

Thank,s Marty for the picture and the advice. I hope I can make mine look that good. Now I have to wait for the painting before doing this, So it will probably be the end of January as there is some body work to do as well.
