I would think that would be hard to prove without serious documentation. She was photographed quite a bit with a Cord convertible coupe not long before she disappeared, I always figured that was her car.

Yeah, on a spot fix like that, you've gotta' go have the existing color matched - even if it's black, because there are different shades of black.

Bummer that you had to spend the extra money and time, but, anytime you're spot repairing an older restored car, you have to have the existing color matched. Even if they would've used the correct color to begin with, if they did it fifteen years ago, odds are, that color has faded a bit or just changed on its own a little.

Good luck, and like the name, my daughter is named Amelia.

The Club Sedan definitely looks like it would be the easiest (but still not a cake walk) to restore. The Town Cars definitely deserve saving, but when all the work is completed, whoever buys them will have a lot more invested in them than the current market (and likely future market) will bear.

I don't want to join the negative crowd, but that son better adjust those prices way down or he'll be in a nursing home and still be trying to sell them. As much work as those cars need, they are extremely expensive projects. We've recently seen it with that big warehouse full of derelict Packards and Pierce-Arrows up in the New York area - it doesn't pay to hoard these cars and just keep gathering up as many as you can.

He'd have been better off buying one, restoring it or getting as close to restoring it as possible, and you never disassemble a car until you are READY to start the restoration start-to-finish.

Yes, I replaced all my interior bulbs with these last year off Amazon - they were cheaper then! They work fantastic and you can actually see the gauges at night quite well now and the dome light is amazing! Good luck!

Shouldn't be a problem at all. Back in the early 1980's we stuck a '53 or '54 Packard 8 in my boss's '34 Packard sedan and I don't recall doing many mods at all to get it in there.

That car ran great and turned into his primarly longer-distance tour car because of the later motor and a bit more horsepower. Ran great and only the Packard faithful ever knew it wasn't the original engine.

Price guides and estimators are pretty much useless today. The market is all over the place. Posting some photos of the car would be very helpful, inside and out, so we could see whether or not the restoration has been done correctly - that's the biggest money changer and without seeing the car, there's really no way to give you an honest decent price.

One look at Hemmings online will quickly display that prices are all over the place - it really depends on the car, the color, and the quality of the restoration. Not really going to be a big difference in price between an 826 and a 726. Yes, there were fewer 826's built, but, there aren't that many of either left and they're nearly identical cars, so, that's really not going to be a factor for price.

Post some photos and I'm sure we'd be able to give you a better idea what it's worth. Good luck!

Contacted Kanter this morning. Nice younger gent there told me they don't stock any springs for the older cars, they have them made to order by a company (I would suspect Eaton). He took all my info and info on the car, said he would check with them on what it would cost to have a set of springs made and get back with me.

He did say, not unexpectedly, that it wouldn't be cheap though, and asked if I'd tried hunting for a used original set on the web. So... we shall see what develops. Again, thanks to all.

This is a close up of how high and stiff she was sitting. And, now of course. Going to have to find a happy in-between!

Eaton does not list any Packard springs of that vintage - or Packard springs of any vintage on their website for that matter. If anyone does have new ones, I would gladly buy them if the price wasn't sky-high.

The way they were, the car was absolutely rigid in the back. I couldn't find any spring shop here in the Baton Rouge area who would even quote me a price on de-arching the springs because no one wanted to mess with it - thus the removal of leaves.

I will add two back to each side and I beleive that will add enough support. It will bring the rear of the car back up a bit and make the ride a little worse, again, but, it's the cheapest and easiest thing to do in my case. Believe me, I'm not a fan of removing or adding springs either, but, it was either this or continue driving a car that was beating me to death and jumping all over the road.

GIVE THAT MAN A KEWPIE DOLL!! YOU GOT IT!

I stuck the cell phone under the car today when I got home with a magnetic stick thingie from Amazon, and that's exactly what's happening. The "pignose" is diving down in reverse and the U-joint is fighting to keep the driveshaft in place, thus, the thud! Forward, same thing, it's rising upward but not as dramatically. So, will be putting some Springs back in this weekend if the weather is good. Hate to because she rides, drives, and sits fantastic now, but, maybe adding two more springs back each side will remedy the problem without raising her up again and make her ride like a buckboard!

Actually, kinda glad it's something this simple and praying I haven't killed that U-joint! Thanks to all!
