Not my car, (its a '29) but as I am rebuilding ALL my wood, and with the help of folks here, I have a bunch of pictures.

Lovely pictures,

It is remarkable how different your '32 is from my and the posters '28 526. I can't supply pictures of my car as I am deployed. Not that it would matter much as my roof had rotten and collapsed anyway. Forensically, I believe that ours were just coarsely cut and then plane formed in place to blend into the rails.

opent the PDF at the bottom, it shows how I found mine constructed. I apologize for the crudeness of the drawing, and the fact that I can't seem to rotate it automatically.

Nice drawings, I only have one comment. I doubt that the material is oak. Oak is horrible when wet/damp at all. I have my car all the way down and am rebuilding the wood. It is much more likely that you have ASH - which looks quite like oak, but has different properties. My whole car is made from Ash, and some maple which is consistant with all of the literature that I have read.

The wood "top" was just strips to hold up the soft top, covered with chicken wire. You won't find any useful drawings, just make strips of about 1" thickness that follow the contours of what the top should be. Look closely, and I bet you will find where the strips were joined into the rails. How about some pics!! Welcome aboard.

Fantastic! Hadn't heard from you in a while, I sure haven't made any headway, being deployed again. Great to see all your progress!

I can't find the date or location, surely it is known. I won't make Detroit, and need a goal to shoot for!

for the 3 of you that read this blog, no updates until at least April as I am deployed again.

I have come to the revelation that I need to get the chassis at least to a roller before I go any further with the wood. I need things to be in a little more of a permanent position before true fitment begins. The funny thing about rebuilding all of the wood is that I can put things wherever I want. I want to put them back exactly as Packard intented, to do that, I need more points of reference.

I,like the other (poster) etc, etc,

meaning that I had the same thought. Sorry, too much reading. It took me probably 12ish hours or so to reread them all, but in an 80 hour work week with 40 hours of work, with little other distraction, there is time. The problem now is that I have read it all. And all the rest of the V8 Packard writings on this site.

Funny that you wanted a '53 to drive while you finish the constellation. that is basically why the wife allowed me to get my '55. Well, that and the price,

I like the other saw the firewall and couldn't believe with all the other detail that you left that tidbit out, (even if temporary, it had to feel good). I am deployed again so neither of my cars will be seeing any attention until April, unless the wife goes crazy and wins the lottery of course! So, I am living vicariously through you and a few others, (mostly you as I love your work).

My wife just sent me an original sales brochure for my constellation, and so I was inspired to reread all 130 pages!! Good thing that I am the boss over here so no one looks too closely at what is on my computer. You work much faster / and your son grows more quickly in cyberspace. It seems like only yesterday you were announcing the pregnancy, oh wait, it was yesterday in my rereading.

Keep up the tremendous work, and lets get that thing fired up!
