Wishing you the best, Brenda. You're fighting a health battle that isn't much fun, fought mine some years ago (colon) and fortunately still here to tell about it, chemo is yucky, lucky I didn't have to deal with radiation. May all be smooth for you.
I grew up around a Packard and owned several when they were just used cars and not something collected, in old age I'm back in the fold with a 48 sedan and a 40 business coupe, unfortunately I'm not as successful with getting out and enjoying them and you and Doug, keep having fun with yours.

I tend to follow activities of Ram as a son uses a heavy duty pickup in his hauling business, in this case an air bag system to assist the springs after you've loaded your Packard(s) on to your trailer.

Don't know if the bowl I have is the same, seems like the filter I purchased was for a 60's model Thunderbird, will try to look and see if I have one still in a box with part number
Hopefully picture of box attached, again older model Packard, maybe not what you need, but a place to start. Local parts shop matched up for me at the time.

My 1940 coupe may or may not be original, but seems like the windshield wipers are electric, you may want to add them to the list of items to check.

Hi Skateboardgumby,
In my mind all questions are good, that's how I learn those little differences. I have seen a few unkind sounding comments, but mostly more gentlemen on this forum than any I have visited. Don't give up on being a Packard guy, good things come to those who wait. I've had Packard cars twice in life now, a bit spaced apart. Dad's 23rd series when he purchased a new car around the time I finished high school, followed by a couple of 55 models early in married life when they were just "used cars" and a brand that had been discontinued. I always wished I had held on to them, but life gets in the way. Now in recent years I'm Packard owner again, of course, now is past retirement age and I'm still waiting to catch up on more pressing projects and actually show the cars some attention.

Is there a difference between 23 and 23-1/2? If not I can make a good photo or scan of a plate from a 23rd series that was removed from dad's Packard when it was painted in the early 1960's. That car is long gone, but the plate remains in my dresser drawer and numbers seem the same as what is pictured.

I would wonder just how much any of us would remember about a vehicle we owned years ago. While I owned several Packards as a young person too many years have passed to identify the VN numbers that would have belonged to those vehicles. That said how would my memories be of use to anyone at this late date?

Love your work, trains and Packard vehicles both catch my interest. In the mid 1950's I made at least several trips from Savannah to Atlanta and back on the Nancy.
Your aunt's tale sounds more like a description of travel on the Nancy. I remember one sections where it felt like you were riding on a whip being snapped. On one such trip my aunt was standing when the train made a snap and threw her into the lap of the folks on one side of the aisle, grandfather got up to see what had happened and about that time the train made another snap and threw him in the laps of the folks on the other side of the aisle. Good old days.
