Re: 1939 super 8 exhaust manifold

I discussed this topic with Fred Kanter and he said:

"The only difference between the 37 & 39 Super 8 exh manifold is the attachment point for the the air cleaner bracketry.

Manifolds will interchange and look 98% correct, gaskets are the same. All 320" manifolds 33-39 are extremely scarce.

Although it won't be 100% original you can easily make one air cleaner fit the other."

Hope this helps you

We do have them available. I do apologize for the confusion. We are still in the midst of organizing and putting away from the move and came across the pallet containing them. Please call and speak with either Charod or Stuart in our Packard Department and we will get an order processed for you.

Re: Fuel Pump on '54

The service manual for 51-54 cars was probably written in the Summer of 1950 pre-production, before the series came out. It mentions a Carter Pump. Service manuals do not specify parts, only the parts book does. A careful reading of the parts book shows that 51-52's used an AC pump and '53-54 used either an AC or Carter. So either brand pump is correct for your '54 They are virtually identical in mounting and connections. The vacuum section uses two short rubber hose "jumpers" between the pump and hard lines, there are no brass fittings used on the vacuum section on either brand. There is no difference in pumps if the car has a 2bbl or 4bbl.

Re: 39 Packard SIX Transmission mounts

The front/side mounts are made of 2 pieces of metal vulcanized to a rubber cushion. The rear mount is a base plate with 2 holes, a top plate with a stud and rubber vulcanized inside the spring. Nothing just sits on anything else.

New front/side mounts are available, the single rear mount is done on an exchange only basis.
