One thing that helped Hudson was the body was lower and thus better roadability the most cars of the time. Hudson did a lot of tweaking of the engine to get more power. race on Sunday improve on Monday which Hudson did

I have a Turning Wheels (bulletin of Studebaker drivers club) dated Jan 1988 with a article by George L Hamlin according to article Mr Hamlin is or was senior editor of Packard Cormorant.
The article states that the decision to make the Packardbaker was made in August 1956 and that the car would be introduced last ten days of January 1957. The time line was three months to get the Studebaker to look like a relative of the Packards.Teague did the job. If you take into consideration the styling and engineering and acquiring of tooling to do the job to get it done from August and get cars in dealers hands by Jan 57 was quite a accomplishment.
All information I have read states that Teague left for Chrysler in 1957.
Appears that Teague pulled of another fast wonder. He was use to working with limited resources and doing a great job of it. All companies who had him working for them if nothing else had human resources departments that could find talent

The Packard V8 will fit in the Studebaker chassis the 1956 Golden Hawk is on production example. The sedan engine compartment is wide enough as the picture below shows a Packard V8 with dual 4 barrels and air this car was a 2008 Studebaker show in Lancaster Pa. as were a couple of others with the same basic engine. Note the car also has air conditioning

A fact often overlooked is that the 57 were designed or modified by the same man who changed the 51 Packard into the 1955-56. He was in charge of making the Studebaker into a clipper if you look at these car closely you can see that he did a wonderful job in a three month time frame with very limited funds. On the engineering front don't forget the Twin Traction.

The owner knows of R5 has a first hand knowledge of them. The R4 motor was sold as a crate motor and later installed in his Avanti which is a near perfect restoration the car alone is worth a great deal seperating them for sale is a ideal way to get the maximum value for the engine and the car itself. The owner is quite well informed on collectible cars of many different makes and varied types, The other extreme is this

My Brother and I left at 10:30 got a short period of hard rain the cleared up and was sunny the rest of the day sunny and blue sky. The Summit Racing has a nice place and the surrounding grounds were great for a show as there was grass and trees to hide from the sun. Not a lot of Packards but the ones present did a good job of representing the brand. A few pics are included but I did miss a few cars but Randy did take some pictures. His car received quite a few compliments as usual.

A good source of pots and baking pans is to go to white elephant sales at Churches and yard sales look over household things usually a lot of large pans and I always look for bread baking pans as the are great for keeping small old things you want to keep organized. Most of these older things are made heavy and can take a lot of abuse for garage use. Better for me to use them than shipped to China for scrap.

I would rent a four wheel trailer from U-Haul for a day or how ever long it takes to do the job. I rented one last fall for the day local use and returned to same location for under $40 complete and no problems they even connect up the wires and everything needed. The trailer had brakes and the fenders folded making it easy to open car door when loaded on trailer. If the car does not run under its own power make sure you take a come-along to pull onto trailer.
