One of the things that I have discovered in Spiritual Pursuits is that there is no right or wrong or good or bad. There is only, does it work or does it not? The same seems to apply to Things Mechanical.

I'll be needin' some 356 belts in my (it is hoped) near future.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

I was reading that the engine is apart and thinking about having to reinstall that antiquated unhappy stuff, but it looks like the long block is together and it's a matter of hanging all the accessories back on it.

That's one of my favorite closed body styles.

Amazon's commentary about hte Gates belt:

Quote:
Gates BladeRunner(R) belts are engineered to exactly match the composition, construction and fit of the original belts on the most common lawn and garden equipment
Exact Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) fit and construction means more value and longer life
Built to withstand the rigorous start and stop operation of lawn and garden equipment
Superior performance over fractional horsepower belts on recommended applications
Readily available – no need to search for lawn & garden retailers

On the other hand, if it works . . . .

My engine guy is willing to talk. Reckon he wants it gone in this life and not the next.

Fred will be so pleased.

Still a lot of "sellers" - more like "clingers" as they won't get those figures if they get buyers at all - are operating on the My Stuff is Gold theory. I'm still watching a guy with an engine worth maybe $800 and the price is still $2K.

That one in Petersburg isn't far away, but I'm not going to look at it for fun. I'm just half-heartedly searching for an R11 o/d.

I did chat with the middle listing a week or three ago. He was going to get back with me. And didn't . . . .

Gee, that sounds like lotsa fun. I reckon that it beats tearing half the engine down - or a stick in the eye.

The prompt starting situation with the Deluxe is dwindling back to being more like it was, which is both a bit disconcerting and discouraging. I still have the points and condenser to install, and the back-ordered cap arrived before I got home. So it's not back to Square One, but it's not the win that it looked like last Monday.

Meh . . . .
