There has been major progress Kevin
Its interesting that most 50s cars have red primer, Its my own notice that certain colors(shades) shine more intensive when they have red primer under.

I rarely take word in topics regarding the BTV issuse, but I feel I have to say what I think of it, although I belive it dose not make a difference:
It took me many a hours to read this topic from the beginning to the end and my own conclusion of this BTV, is that in the end its the car owners free choice to choose weather to use a NOS or rebuild BTV or use a modern two chamber Power brake. If I had a Packard here in Estonia and wanted to use it just for driving on the roads, I might have to convert to a modern Power brake option. But If I would like to get the unice vehicles license plate I must have the BTV or it will not qualify the criteria.

The quality of the reproduction parts from US has been rather good as far as I have seen various parts, some ordered from Kanter.
There is not much that I can say, the 3 working Estonian pre-war Packard have all BTV I know of and they seem to work so far.

Im as confused about Gerds departure from the forum as anyone els here is. I can say this about him: he was in a way my teacher and thanks to him I learned to respect more of the USSR craftsman work. Also thanks to his posts (wich are deleted new ) I learned why people find the ZIS cars to be important in history.

John is right that I and some other forum members who have knowledge of USSR vehicles have to continue the work, Im not as educated in thous matters as Gerd was, but that dose not mean we should give up new.
The work must contineu even if its whiteout Gerd.

I hope we will meet again one day Gerd!

Gerd Im not sure about the motorama show, because I previously had never heard of it. If a ZIS car was there present I can imagine the faces of the reporters who saw it at first hand and where amazed that how could they ever build something like that?

But other cars later won also prizes on car fares and shows

Oh I should have known better that NAMI was all behind this
All the pictures Gerd posted I have seen before, looking at them makes me think that there was a army of engineers there.

The "Chop shop" method in the USSR engineering program is nothing new, but this kind of chopping two maybe even 3 cars and butting them together would be a challenge. Its not only combining the size differents, floor pans etc its also mounting the body in to a suitable frame.
I have no doubt that chopping and rewelding different parts together is possible but in my opinion it was used on prototype cars. Remember that after WWII the USSR had no experts or engeneers who knew how to assemble and design as in thous days standards a modern car. Later in the 50s there came a new generation of engineers and they started designing cars them selves and chopping was no longer so much of a deal.

I have always wondered that many car restorers try to correct factory mistakes, is that a good thing or not? Some cars at least the USSR car, sometimes where assembled in a haste and they had many small mistakes in them. I cant tell should I or other restorers correct these or leave these mistakes as they are??

This topic is not related to Packard I know, but I find its important to post it here. A Packardinfo user whos name I cant remember asked me from where I get me knowledge about the USA and other states like Australia and Canada.
I can new anser that question:
I can say my first knowledge came from these books wich pictures are below the post. From there came my first ever knowledge about thous three states. When I was a kid I use to read and viwe these books all the time.
These books where before me my grandfathers belongings he got them from a friend who lived in Canada. The books are printed 1982-1987 years range.
I could not show this pictures before because I had no idea where these books where stashed new I have found them I can show them to a larger audience.

The reason for this topic and post:
Maybe someone els has seen here these before or owns one of these?

PS Maybe the Packard pictures I should have will come out to
