On my Hash pump: (body number 471083)
Bore depth: 1.6287
Gear depth: 1.6255

So about 3 thou play. The cover plate is not perceptibly worn, either by depth mic or fingernail test.

I mean that's an obvious symptom of a head gasket leak EXCEPT that you used a new head gasket, right? How much did the heads come untorqued in the meantime?

I don't see how paint would stop a pressurized coolant system from leaking, so did you mean that in terms of aesthetic touch-up, or?

Is it me or is the gasket area on that pan also warped from over-torquing?

Looks like they supported it with a bottle jack...?

Wasn't planning on it. Are they available NOS, or you found some supplier?

I still need to inspect the oil pump I plan to use. Was going to today, but got tired 🥱

For grinding down the pump body, do you just jig them up on a Bridgeport? I assume about 2 thou impeller endplay is the goal?

Thanks Jack but I'm not sure I'm following. Why wouldn't a shim with the same ID and OD of a gear, placed next to the gear, help reduce the pressure loss that would otherwise occur through that gap?

Seems as though neither 16 or 24 fits the studs. Could it be metric?

Parts book gives a 5/16 x 24 with lockwasher as Howard said.

I don't know what anyone could possibly use that's metric
