After 1 of the rides I took in the car I noticed a puddle of oil under the transmission. After checking it out I realized that an old repair to the top cover was leaking. Im going to have to locate another cover for the top of the trans with shifter forks. Here is a picture before i had the trans rebuilt you can see where it was leaking before.

I was working on the car changing timing also noticed the rotor in the distributor had some play in it so i replaced that. I checked the fuel pump pressure and it was only 2 1/2 lbs according to my motors manual it should be 4-5 lbs. So i ordered a fuel pump rebuild kit.

I was looking in my motors manual for fuel pump pressure. If I read it right for a 1941 super 8 it should be 4-5 lbs. Is this correct? My gauge is only showing 2 1/2 lbs.

I looked at the video. The timing marks on my balancer are way off. Sometimes as balancers get older the timing marks can move do to the rubber mounting. I have had this happen on other cars also. So that method will not work for me. Also it starts fairly easy cold.Timing by vacuum may be the only other way unless I get the balancer rebuilt.

its possible the timing is off. I tried setting it with a timing light and the car will not run at all. There is no pinging on hills and it has good power also it dose not overheat runs around 165 to 170 degrees so I dont think its to far off. I am probably going to try to set it using a vacuum gauge. Im not sure I remember how to do that so if anyone knows please let me know.

Had the car running the other day took it for a quick ride since someone was at home to tow me If the car stalled. got it up to 170 degrees parked it in the garage shut it off. Left it sit for 2 minutes and tried to restart it. It would not start. I checked the voltage to coil cold and hot the same readings. 6.1 volt before cranking. while cranking 4.75 to 5 volts.I also put a spark plug on the end of 1 of the spark plug cables it was sparking white in color. I also looked down the carb to see if gas was dripping in the engine there was none. I also pulled the plug out of the side of the carb to check float level no gas came out .I hit the throttle and 2 solid streams of gas came out. The coil im using is brand new and says no exteranl resistor required.it is a uc-14 I also tried the original coil on the car when it was hot after cranking and cranking it finally started but I dont think the original coil is any better.
