Greetings All,
Thanks for all the ideas and info. I did get the head gasket replaced, new hardened washers, cleaned the threads on the studs and nuts with a tap and dye so everything would torque right. I did put a straight edge on the top of the block and did not see any warpage to speak of. I did a compression test and found that I still have no compression in cylinder #2. Is it possible that the valves are so far out of adjustment that a cylinder would have no compression? This one is truly puzzling. Thanks Gene

1930Vacuum Tank Blues

Greetings All,
My vacuum tank may be starting to fail and am wondering if anyone has found someone who can rebuild them or if anyone has tried using an electric fuel pump to push the gas into the vacuum tank. Would the vacuum tank if it is working draw the fuel through the pump when off, as the electric one on my '56 does, or would the pump have to be on all the time and will this cause the tank to overfill and possibly flood the carb. Thanks Gene

Thanks,
I think I replaced some of the studs a number of years back. I can check to see if any bottom out on the top side of the head. Gene

It has been overheating big time, goes over 200 degrees driving 45-50 mph.
Thanks

Hi,
Seems to be leaking into the coolant as the temp shoots up over 200 degrees. Thanks

1941 120 Head gasket Issue

Greetings All,
Has anyone had problems with having to replace head gaskets more than once? I'm on my 3rd one and can't figure out why this is occurring. This has been occuring over the last 4-5 years, but before that it ran fine. I've had the head machined some time back as it was a bit warped, but not sure if the corresponding face on the engine block was done when it was originally rebuilt. Seems like I remember reading once that an oversized head gasket needed to be used to replace the thickness machined off, but don't know if this is true or not. Thanks Gene

1928 526 Runabout Clutch

Greetings All,
A friend has a 526 and he is trying to reinstall the clutch and transmission that were taken out a number of years back. When installing the clutch plate the "fingers" start to move and he is wondering if there are any specs on the travel or other measurements that have to be done as his manuals don't address that. Thanks Gene Wescott
