Tips/Tricks/Suggestions for replacing lifters

I am planning on attempting to replace the lifters on my '55 Patrician. I just have one lifter that is ticking, but I figure may as well replace them all. I got really great direction from a member in Houston on my project blog - but I also wanted to post in the V8 forum because more info is always better.

Bob, thank you so much! And I didn't think about posting to the 55-56 forum first, good point.

So as I prepare & gather parts to replace the lifters I would very much welcome suggestions, tips...heck instructions from people who have done this before. I'm eager to learn to do more and more on my car on my own. So far anything I've found online really doesn't pertain to such an old engine.

Well, a couple people suggested it so I thought I'd try it - if it doesn't work then I'll just replace the lifters. NBD.

While I wait for the ATF to hopefully do its thing, I decided to just go get some generic exhaust hangers for the passenger side pipe that was knocking about. Was able to cobble something together. I've forgotten who suggested I do that, but thanks for the suggestion. Now all I hear is the ticking lifter!

I hadn't thought about that, Owen. But it's moot now; my better half convinced me keep my Patrician because, in his words, I haven't had enough time with it yet.

Yeah I saw conflicting thoughts on that woodgraining. It's tough because I'd have to liquidate my current 1955 Patrician if I were to go for it.

Where abouts in Utah? I'm located just 45 minutes south of Salt Lake and if you give me a list of things you'd like me to check out I can do my best. And if it's beyond my abilities there's a restoration shop I've worked with that perhaps would be willing to perform a pre purchase inspection.

I am considering purchasing a Light 8 but I have no knowledge of them. What are things to look for & know about the Light 8? I've tried searching the site but there isn't a ton of info on them on here.
