Those prices are pretty much what I have found.
Craig: I just think that the batwing is cool looking. I I found one that had to be painted I could go whole hog and put my 'CLIPPER ROD' name to match my valve covers. I may have to settle for the chrome ones but I want to exhaust all possibilities first. Is there any place that gives the physical dimensions for one. I think that stove pipe might work for the stacks that fit over the carbs, then just wire weld diamond plate on them from there. It is funny (peculiar) that on ebay there are a lot of listings for Batwing air cleaners but they are for the original air cleaners that most of us have on our cars. ALK

Has anyone ever hear of anyone fabricating a 4bbl batwing air cleaner. I know for the purists it would no be acceptable
but at $1500 for a garbage piece and $5000 or more for a decent item it would seem that one could be fabricated for much less.

I know I have taken these pictures before but I cannot find them. I some close up photos of the passengers side view of the twin carb setup linkage. First I misplaced the theactual carb linkage then found that, now I have misplaced the rod that hooks up to pedal linkage that operates the twin carb rod

Well so much for warm and fuzzy feelings. After three weeks of no work the mechanic calls me and admits to cold feet about working on the car. He is talking about having to completely yanking the engine out to put in the transmission cooling lines. Everyone agrees that I should find another mechanic. I do and the car is now there and work is progressing. In doing some work he finds that the carbs are full of water(GREAT). I sure do hope no water got into the block. we checked the oil and all seems to be o.k. I printed some of the diagrams some of you guys provided, so he should be able to work with those. Hell I am only 72 so I should have a life expectancy long enough to see the project complete.

Well I had thought of the same thing. I was thinking of just replacing the metal tubing with rubber. That way I can route them where ever I want.

Well fortunately or unfortunately depending on viewpoint, the engine is in the car, the radiator is out. I have no lift so I will have to find a mechanic with a lift. The best I can do would be to raise the front end and set the front end on blocks. I just do not know if that will get it high enough.
