I have to agree that the Pickers are often cavalier and condescending about how they basically took someone to the cleaners.

This is WAY off topic, but your quote "Out of chaos comes order," reminded me of an excellent Kate Winslet movie I just saw called "A Little Chaos." In a roundabout way, it supports Nietzsche's quote.
If you haven't seen the movie, check it out. as always Garrett Meadows

Thanks for the link. It was highly informative both about the car and the show.
I do kinda resent it when such shows create a lot of artificial hype and drama over something that is quite the contrary. To hear American Pickers talk, you'd think the Madame X Cadillac was the Holy Grail or Spear of Destiny. However, one of the forum members in the link you sent--obviously very knowledgeable--said the Madame X Cadillac was not all that special and nothing to write home about. I often wonder after a particular episode of American Pickers airs, if the featured collectors are swamped with individuals wanting to buy their stuff. For instance, after the show featuring the President of Chile's Packard aired, did Packard collectors beset the owner for offers not only for that Packard, but the other Packards as well? Thanks again for the link. as always Garrett Meadows

President of Chile's Packard on American Pickers

Since I don't visit the forum much, this topic may have already been covered.
I just saw the episode of American Pickers in which the guys the were in NY state and picked the car collection of the family of a now-deceased gentleman who collected Packards, among other cars. One of the Packards belonged to the President of Chile. The seller wanted $55,000. The owner had turned down an offer $35,000 from a previous potential buyer. An expert named Mefford was with Mike and said the car would probably bring $40,000/45,000 at auction. Just wondering if any forum members might know what become of that Packard, which I assume would be highly desired. Also, the collector had a "Madame X" Cadillac, which I had never heard of. kind regards Garrett meadows

Hi Steve!
Thank you very kindly for the kind conciliatory words. I appreciate it. I would often get beat-up-on for making mistakes like I just did by not realizing the Packard in the eBay ad was a '39, not a '38. Hey, I'm not an expert nor do I know all the razor-thin nuances of the variant Parkard models, styles, years, etc. I often wished some forum members would have cut me a bit of slack when I'd goof-up or ask a question about something deemed "obvious." Additionally, I'll NEVER be in a position to own a Packard because (a) I know nothing of auto-mechanics and would never be able to work on or trouble-shoot the inevitable mechanical problems that go with owning a classic car; and (b) I'll never have the financial resources. Hey, I'm a middle school special education teacher which should tell anyone my financial status. I will only be able to enjoy Packards from afar. I do have the opportunity years ago to ride for about 15 minutes in a 1938 Packard 120 sedan. Thanks again for being such a gentleman. I appreciate it. Garrett M

Thank you for the warm welcome back. I appreciate it. I had to leave the forum for a while because there were some forum members who were taunting me and being unnecessarily sarcastic to me. Why? I don't know, unless because I don't own a Packard and/or wasn't asking what they considered "serious" Packard questions. Who knows. I certainly don't.
Regardless, I do appreciate your kind welcome.

Currently listed on Hemming's are the following three Packards: 1937 Packard 120C, Packard Super-charged 8, and Packard Super 8, all three are for under $28,000.
I would have thought they would have been higher in price. https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/packard/120/2192817.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/packard/super-8/2233061.html https://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/packard/120c/2215038.html
