I haven't had a chance to dig into these volumes as much as I would like to yet, but when I first got them, I did a cursory once-over and was blown away by all the new photos and source materials we had not seen previously. Dwight has been writing about and researching Packards since before I was even in the hobby! If you are a PAC member and read his articles in the publications, or you have read his contributions to the Packard history edited by Automobile Quarterly, then you already know that this is going to be a scholarly and outstanding work. I'm really looking forward to being able to immerse myself in these books!

Don passed away in 2019, I do not know the status of his company, but Cyndi will.

If you like 1:43 scale die cast cars, the popular Brooklin Models range had a 1950 Deluxe Eight that was in production until 2009, but that's as close to a 1948 sedan that I know of. Brooklin made a Station Sedan variant, the aforementioned Custom limousine, and even a couple of Henney bodied hearse and ambulance versions.

Most if not all of them were packaged with a separate cormorant/pelican hood ornament that you would attach yourself with a white glue like Elmer's.

Go ahead and post away, West, the photo was already in the Packard Info photo library. It was just easier last night to send you the scan I had made of the original print than it was to find the URL.

Hi West, I don't have the measurements, but I have a few photos of the rear window of the 1955 Caribbean I sold last year, and which still had the original top. I think there are also some factory photos of the 1955 Caribbean in the PackardInfo library (I had submitted them) that might be closer to being square-on, so they could be easier to work with do some mathematical scaling.

I know who to contact at the PPG regarding the blueprints; if you want to pursue that, I can PM you the info to get ahold of him directly.

Also, Joel Ray has probably one of the most carefully restored 1956 Caribbeans on the planet. You could always reach out to him and ask if he would mind taking a measurement for you.

Sorry this is becoming frustrating, but we're all here to help if we can!

Our Motor City Packards region of The Packard Club (PAC) has been testing different LED bulbs for use in 6-volt Packards, focusing on ability to fit under the various lenses, as well as light output. We are now selling a broad variety of bulbs that have been physically tested in the various Packards. You can see what kinds of bulbs are available now plus their prices atmotorcitypackards.org/information/services-and-ads/

Only 6-volt compatible bulbs are available at this time.

Just a random musing -- it seems like there are more Caribbeans nowadays don't have the "Custom Made" plaque than those that do. I'm assuming that either the original owners did not install them, or else subsequent owners removed them?

If you're instrument panel shopping, make sure you get one with the gold mesh insert in very good condition, and also a very good dash pad. Both with cost you a pretty penny if they need to be redone.
