hello:
I have a 1952 200 and I wonder why when I use my wipers they go up when I turn the knob and they go down when I turn the knob, but once they are up they don't go down automaticly. I have to turn the knob for the wiper to move back down.
I know there is directions in the literature to lubricate the wipers , which I have done.
thanks
tim

Re: Is 12-volt conversion really necessary?

I bought my 1952 200 just 3 years ago on july 5. I can't tell you how many people comment on the car and in conversation when the 6 volt battery topic comes up it is suggested I convert to 12 volt. Well I never have converted and never plan too unless a reasonable reason comes up.. I don't plan to have AC. although I could use it in Hawaii......
The last 3 years have been great. I have learned so much about my car. and I love the hobby. Now I have a proper tune up, Proper guage wires and a new battery and a new fuel pump the care starts very easy and quick. Before I made these necessary repairs the car didn't start easy and the battery was poor. it was a vicious cycle. I was spending all my cranking power to start a car that wasn't fit to start. It has been a good lesson.

THANKS TO ALL THE PACKARD OWNERS HERE FOR YOUR GENEROUS ADVICE AND WILLINGNESS TO SHARE.

it is so much fun to drive around. and when I stop for gas or to go to the store I always find people to talk to. Last sunday I was at the store in the Packard and I was in the parking lot for over one hour just talking to people about cars. I sure get a lot of advice.......But I am never sure if people always know what they are advising. LOL
My Packard needs a GOOD cleaning and detailing.
My next projects are to :
change oil
service the brakes
check the rear diff( no more drives until I do this)
and the list goes on.
But I still need proper storage. Right now that is my priority.

I snapped a pic on my drive this morning. This is the Big Island of Hawaii. The car ran well. NIce and smooth. and I got her up to 65mp & 70mph.

thanks guys for your advice. I really appreciate it. Now I know what I am looking for.
the battery I have now is the one HH56 recommended.
It takes two days to charge and then in 1 wk the multimeter only measures 4.5 volts. so in 1 wks time it loses its power. and I make sure I have left nothing on. and the battery is 4 years old.
